A: Very dark brown with ruby highlights. Smallish, but creamy looking tan head. Plenty of carbonation bubbles can be seen rising up through the glass when held up to the light. Leaves spidery lace.
S: Rich malt aromas ranging from dark bready to roasted coffee to milk chocolate. Hints of earthy bitterness, tobacco, and cola.
T&M: Medium body with some lively carbonation, but an overall smooth texture. Malts certainly carry the day with this one. Nice mix of roasted malt, chocolate, and oatmeal flavors. I am also picking up traces of wood and smoke. Finishes with a slightly sweet dark bready malt aftertaste. Pleasant. Hop presence is very subdued.
D: Solid example of the style. If you are in the mood for some dark roasted malts then this brew is worthy of a try. All in all, a satisfying oatmeal stout. I would welcome another.
