Poured into a tulip.
Wow me Goose Island...
A: Not there yet. The body is a beautiful amber orange, but the look is a bit cloudy with no sign of carbonation and just about one finger of head that leaves quickly and leaves no lacing.
S: A lot of beers, especially in this style, smell like this, but I love it. Smooth malts and a bready funk mix perfectly and provide the base for this earthy aroma which also includes some sour fruit notes like granny smith apple and some mild hop notes and spices.
T: Wow! I could see were this would turn people off right away. But it's so unique that it can't be ignored or forgotten, and I like it. It's very tart, and the apple is bold, bold, bold and up-front. This mixes well with some understated funk and other dark fruits. I also get some hops on the tongue. Ends with a smooth but dry finish.
M: Medium-thin body with some bubbliness. Solid, appropriate, good. It enhances the beer and makes it easier to intake this challenging brew.
D: For as strong and as bold as it is, the beer is just so unique as to make it a great pleasure. Not relaxing in the least, it's still best to take it slow.

From a bottle into a pilsner glass. 5/21/14 is the date
A: the best part about this beer. It's a golden orange color with a thin layer of thick head and whisper lace on the glass
S: slight aroma or hops and orange peel
T: follows the smell right down to being slight.
M: light on the tung. I can see this being great on a hot day
O: a bit disappointed with this one. With the reputation goose island's rare and mainstream beers has. I was hoping the less popular would still be really good.
