on tap into a weizen glass at the Clybourn Brewpub in Chicago. pour sa yellowish amber color, with a decent haze and a minimal off white head.
aroma is of light citrus and a subtle spiced quality, along with a grainy base that seems to take over the profile in the nose. this is quite grainy for a hefe, without enough hops to balance it out.
taste is more of the same, with more of a grainy profile and a citrusy finish. banana and cloves are the predominant malt present, along with a bit of lingering citrus in the aftertaste, with the same grainy character from the front of the palate.
mouthfeel is light bodied, with a citrusy and light body, along with a lightly creamy finish of residual grain and banana.
drinkability is good. this is a bit grainy for a hefe, so it falls short of a great brew. could be a bit more complex in profile, as well as lighter in body for the flavors present. not the best from Goose Island.

Served on the brewery tour in mid-July. Honestly not super impressed with this hefeweizen, though it was definitely among the more drinkable options served at the tour. Definitely a drinkable American hefeweizen, but one that lacks a lot of the depth and richness of the German exemplars. Decent flavors, if a little sweet and overbearing on the banana note, and with a thin malt backbone. Drinkable.

On tap at Clybourn.
A-Very hazy, white filmy head. Burnt yellow color.
S-Clove, banana bread, malty.
T-Like most other hefes but with some alcohol bite. Also some phenols. Overall quality is grainy with nice notes of banana like esters and cloves.
M-Nice smooth body.
O-The alcohols take away from the drinkability of this hefe. A bit bitter in the finish for my taste.
