On tap at Goose Island Clybourn Chicago.

This is a typical hefeweizen. Pours pale yellow with zero head. Smells of cloves and banana.

Taste was good for a hefe, typical wheaty/yeasty with fruity undertones and banana. But it just didn't follow through as much as I would have liked it to.

Mouthfeel was light and smooth, easy to drink.

Overall a decent hefe, but not the best certainly. A good choice from my night at GI. My favorites are the Fleur and Hefe. Pass up the Summertime and Summer Spice, nothing much there.

on tap into a weizen glass at the Clybourn Brewpub in Chicago. pour sa yellowish amber color, with a decent haze and a minimal off white head.

aroma is of light citrus and a subtle spiced quality, along with a grainy base that seems to take over the profile in the nose. this is quite grainy for a hefe, without enough hops to balance it out.

taste is more of the same, with more of a grainy profile and a citrusy finish. banana and cloves are the predominant malt present, along with a bit of lingering citrus in the aftertaste, with the same grainy character from the front of the palate.

mouthfeel is light bodied, with a citrusy and light body, along with a lightly creamy finish of residual grain and banana.

drinkability is good. this is a bit grainy for a hefe, so it falls short of a great brew. could be a bit more complex in profile, as well as lighter in body for the flavors present. not the best from Goose Island.

On tap at the Clybourn brewpub, served in a weizen glass.

Pours a cloudy amber, bit of orange highlighting, thick cloudy white head, nice sticky lacing, decent retention. Smell is weissbier like, sweet malts, banana, clove, quite spicy, light fruits, not bad. Taste is sweet, tons of banana, spice, fruit, wheat, bready, some yeast, sweet caramelly finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium to high carbonation. Decent weissbier, not the best but pretty competent for the style.

I had this on tap at the Goose Island Clybourn brewpub. It was served in a tall hefe-weizen glass and had a hazy golden color with a cumulus-like head. It smelled just as good as any of the best German breweries I've tried, fruity and clovy. The taste was nearly perfect too. Goose Island should bottle this stuff, I'd buy it before Paulaner.

On tap at the Clyborne brew pub. Cloudy dark yellow with a foamy white head. Nice tart, clove, spicy sweet smell. Smooth mouthfeel. Has a nice refreshing wheat malt, yeasty ,citrusy ,spicy flavor. A good hefe here that 'll hit the spot on a hot summer day.

On tap at the Clyborne location.

Pours a unfiltered hazy deep gold with a thin white head that does not persist.
According to Miguell, a German yeast is used that give this its Banana and clove esters. Some lemon citrus adds to the fuity aroma. Mildly sweet wheat malt flavor with lighter body and lightly creamy mouthfeel. Carbonation is strong and adds to crisp sharp finish.

Now this was a nice treat on a warm Chicago afternoon in spring. Pours a hazy deep amber in color with a thin white head that had little retention. Nose is classic hefe, strong banana notes abound, made my mouth water. Also some citrusy notes and bits of spice here and there. Quite fruity and very refreshing, perfect warm weather beer. I could drink a lot of this, a nice staple sort of brew.

Sampled on tap at the Goose Island Clyborne location
This beer has a thin off-white head that sits a top a hazy deep gold colored beer. Clove notes dominate the aroma, but there is some banana and a pleasing tart lemon character here as well. The taste is soft and smooth up front. It finishes with a nice clove element and a certain sharpness that seems to be derived from the carbonation, a certain acidity, and an overall yeast character. Once again, I am quite impressed by these beers. This is a great quaffer on a humid Chicago afternoon: light, refreshing, fruity, with a good crispness & flavor from the wheat. I really like the sharpness that is in the finish, it helps to balance the rest of the flavor components found in this beer.

Cloudy straw appearance. Pours with an excellent head and has good lace through out. Mixture of citrus and grassy/wheat (straw?) aroma. Mildly hoppy taste. Thick creamy texture. Excellent balance of malt, wheat and yeast. Overall, excellent weiss. My favorite Goose yet.

I had this one on tap at the Wrigleyville outpost.

The beer was a golden yellow. Minimum head. Very hazy and with nice lacing. Perfect pour and perfect appearance for style

Smell is clove and spice. Lots of malt rises up to meet your nose. Very nice!

The taste is very German which to me means they have the taste nailed. The beer is incredibly refreshing. Great wheat malt balance. Spicy notes are just perfect.

Easy to drink beer here and a damn fine representative of this style!
