Consumed January 13, 2012. 2010 vintage. Tasting started with beer at 48 degrees F. Consumed in Klokke Roeland goblet/snifter.

Beer pours an amazingly clear and pretty light to medium golden with copious carbonation. Bubbles rose through the glass for the entire time I drank it. A two-finger meringue-like white head sat atop the beer on first pour and stuck around for a long time, finally becoming a thin yet still-complete layer at the bottom of the glass. Outstanding.

Beer is very aromatic: zesty lemons, powdery Belgian yeast, freshly cut grass and a slight tinge of a funk I can't quite nail down. Delicious.

Flavor reminds me of Duvel in a good way; imagine that beer with some tightly controlled funk and you're coming close. White pepper, lemon, grass and hibiscus. The flavor is so satisfying and complex that the smooth segue to the fairly bitter finish is sneaky. Pretty clean at the end, stopping short of evaporative.

Mouthfeel has restrained but still-present carbonation bite and a smooth dryness on the finish. Nearly flawless.

I drank the whole bottle myself and loved every swallow, though I got too greedy and wound up with a good amount of yeast floaters from the bottom of the bottle due to wanting to drink every single drop.

A: blood orange and yellowish. HUUGE bubbly head. Exploded out the bottle...

S: orange peel, citrus, floral, apple

T: oranges right off. Then some wet hay, white wine, lemons, cashews, champagne. Taste is so complex and amazing.

M: light and very bubbly. But this fits it well.

O: so good! And so worth it. Complex as hell and very 'delicate' if that's the word I'm looking for... sip this one and enjoy it.

Really enjoyed it. Great for small parties. The bottle itself is pretty elegant, and once you pour it in, it's great. High on citris flavors, but smooth going down. A great cloudy, yet crisp looking amber and goes down smooth. Perfect for a summer day. A bit on the expensive side, but if your looking to indulge, go for it.

1000th review. Only took 4.5 years. Many more to come to.

765 ml bottle was poured into a large tulip glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a crazy three finger head that finally reduced to a small puffy layer. It is a golden straw yellow with great clarity and vision of many bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Pretty funk, oak, chardonnay, vanilla, apple, pear, and a little orange.

Taste: Nice mellow funk, grape, apple, pear, vanilla, wheat, orange peel, oak, and a little bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, a bit dry, medium to high carbonation, a little chewy, and a little funk.

Overall: Stellar beer enjoyed a lot over the years and many more times in the future.
