Poured jet black. Small head that lingered the entire way. Tons of coffee on the nose. Smells fresh. Like it was just brewed now. Such an amazing nose. Taste is coffee heavy, but there's the underlining stout. Bourbon at the finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and full, and amazing. Overall, this blows Vanilla away. Just amazing. The coffee is unlike anything I've ever tasted. So full, so fresh. Amazing stout. The barrel aging does add a complexity, but it's the coffee that makes this beer. Just overwhelming. My wife isn't a stout lover at all, but she's a coffee lover, and she loved this beer. Cannot stress enough how much coffee is in this beer. Very awesome, perfect scores for sure. Good job GI!

Nice pour, pitch black, small tan head.
Smells mostly of Bourbon and dark malts, some dark fruit, a small veggie note, and the fresh coffee isn't as strong as i expected.
That changes in the taste. Starts quite acidic with strong coffee and boozy raisin. Mellows down a bit after the initial sip, coffee gets roastier, some sweet spices, vanilla and nice barrel notes show up, clearer rich dark chocolate. Very clear Bourbon on the palate, packing a bit too much booze, but that's explainable (14.3 abv). Strong coffee in, strong coffee out in the aftertaste, with a touch of roasted malts and dark fruit.
Perfect for a sipper, especially because the booze doesn't seem to mellow down too fast.
Big on the coffee and barrel notes, it didn't quite live up to its huge hype. A monster RIS anyway, no need to be biased here.
