Appearance: Poured from bottle into a snifter. Pours an impenetrable solid black with a finger-width, beige head that dissipates relatively quickly to a very thin foamy cap.
Aroma: Big coffee notes are immediately apparent. Smooth, chocolatey, vanilla-y, woody, roast-y, coffee grounds. I could smell this beer all day.
Taste: Bourbon flavors are more apparent, but very smooth and nicely integrated with coffee flavors. Finishes with more coffee and chocolate notes, super long.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, low carbonation, seems somewhat less viscous than normal Brand Stout.
Overall: Spectacular. Coffee flavors are very present, but blend very nicely with bourbon and roast-y malt flavors. Very curious to see how this one ages, glad I got a four pack.

Nice pour, pitch black, small tan head.
Smells mostly of Bourbon and dark malts, some dark fruit, a small veggie note, and the fresh coffee isn't as strong as i expected.
That changes in the taste. Starts quite acidic with strong coffee and boozy raisin. Mellows down a bit after the initial sip, coffee gets roastier, some sweet spices, vanilla and nice barrel notes show up, clearer rich dark chocolate. Very clear Bourbon on the palate, packing a bit too much booze, but that's explainable (14.3 abv). Strong coffee in, strong coffee out in the aftertaste, with a touch of roasted malts and dark fruit.
Perfect for a sipper, especially because the booze doesn't seem to mellow down too fast.
Big on the coffee and barrel notes, it didn't quite live up to its huge hype. A monster RIS anyway, no need to be biased here.
