12 oz bottle, 2013, poured into a Goose Island glass

A- Black with a small mocha head.

S- Espresso, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, some oak, touch of bourbon.

T- Wow, roasted coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, bourbon, touch of vanilla, some chocolate fudge, bourbon adds a touch of heat at the end in a good way, very well balanced.

M- Smooth, thick, creamy.

O- Best of the Bourbon County series that I have had to the pleasure to drink. Love the bitterness of the coffee, I wish I was able to get more of this!

Popped a bottle of 2013 for my first bourbon county coffee stout experience ever. This beer left me speechless because it was so delicious. I tried this beer right after I had a Kbs and I thought this was so much more balanced and was more flavorful as well.

A: Dark brown to black body with a khaki head that stands quite well for a second or two, then pops out of sight almost instantly. No lacing.

S: It has a very wonderful aroma. Bourbon, oak, coffee, cocao, and a promise of wonderful flavors. It's fantastic.

T: It has a nice well-balanced flavor of bourbon and spiced wood along with rich malty chocolate flavor and coffee. It's amazing. There's few words I could use to describe this beer without talking in circles. It's something a person would have to experience. There is a hint of alcohol that looms in the rafters, but it's so far in the background that it does no harm to the flavor. The aftertaste is exactly what you'd get out of a cup o' Joe. It is very lovely.

M: It has a nearly perfect mouthfeel. The body is nice and full, smooth, robust without being a hindrance. The only downfall I notice is the severe lack of carbonation.

O: Overall it is a quite wonderful beer that lacks only in the carbonation. I would gladly buy this beer again, and would happily recommend it to others. There's precious little to be said about perfection, but this does quite well in embodying it. Bourbon lovers, stout enthusiasts, and coffee scrutineers will all be proud to have a bottle of this close by.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Burley Oak snifter (11/15/13 1949)

A: Pitch black with no head, collar or anything outside of the liquid. Slight mocha head on a vigorous pour of what I had left., left an ok collar. Dissipated right away.

S: Sweet malts with a a nice earthy coffee flavor, like freshly ground coffee beans. Just a bit of bourbon mingling around the edges.

T: The last time I had BCBS was on Black Friday, but this is just like I remember with just some slight changes. Bourbon on the backend with just a slight bit of a burn. Very warming. I let it warm up quite a bit. The coffee is primarily on the backend and dulls the bourbon a bit, just soaks it up. Coffee just does a good job in balancing this out a bit, at least with fresh BCS.

M: Smooth for the most part with just a few rough patches of coarse bubbles/carbonation. However, it does seem to have close to the same body of a good bourbon, it feels like you mixed some with it. Like it is oily almost.

O: I only got two other bottles, so I will either save them or bring them to bottleshares. It is just too much bourbon for me.
