Fresh Michigan Cherries are added to barrels of Bourbon County Brand Stout for this version. The flavors spark memories of chocolate covered cherries and rich black forest cake.

Black color, no head.
Nice aroma. Chocolate, cherry, bourbon, some vanilla.
Taste of chocolate-covered cherries and bourbon. Hint of vanilla.
Sweet, but not too sweet. It went well with my chocolate cake.

Bourbon County Brand Cherry Stout pours black, with almost no head. Aroma is rich, sweet, notes of wood and cherries. Flavor is sweet and thick, lots of dark malted barley, hints of smoke, mellow notes of cherry. Good body and feel. Overall, its excellent of course, its a great thick stout, with hints of cherry.

Sweeter than bourbon county stout. Subtle cherry flavor. Quite awesome. Hints of chocolate and caramel. This would be great with either a steak dinner or a cigar.

Poured from a bottle into a Trillium tulip tasting glass. #7 in the BCBS tasting lineup. Bramble, Backyard, and Coffee remain.

Appearance: What a surprise! It's thick black motor oil. Just like every other BCBS.

Smell: Just a faint amount of cherry, but it is quite boozy. A little bit of chocolate too, but the nose is relatively muted compared to some of the others tonight.

Taste: Chocolate covered cherries. Chocolate comes through first and most prominently. The cherry comes through really fresh, like a good sour cherry, and then of course covered in chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Higher carb than some of the other variants, but that isn't saying much. Really sticky and thick, which shouldn't surprise anyone since it's like every other BCBS variant in that regard.

In review is a 2012 vintage.

A - Pours dark black with a thick frothy toffee head.

S - Chocolate, slight spice, and cherry extract.

T - Chocolate, cherry extract, and oak.

M - Thick, rich, and full.

O - The cherry comes across as a sugary extract which IMO kills this beer. Wasn't worth trading for and terribly overrated just because it sports a Bourbon County label.
