Goose Island Silver Jubilee Double Pale Ale, aged 4 months, 8.00% ABV, in a 750ML bottle and poured into a Goose Island tulip glass.

Appearance: Amber and poured clear with an off-white one inch thick head. Head slowly recedes while ample lacing is retained from the initial pour line.

Smell: The nose is subtle, with hints of melon and apricot.

Taste: Initial flavors of pepper and fresh baked biscuits leads to a finish of sweet caramelized malt and sustained hop bitterness.

Mouth feel: It has a medium body and good carbonation, with a slightly dry finish of hop resin and alcohol warmth.

Overall: Goose Island brewed this beer specifically for their 25th anniversary, of which I was lucky to attend. Along with the many amazing beers and great food (including a Bourbon Count Stout cake that blew my mind and taste buds), I was able to sample this beer on both draft and hand-pulled with the latter being one of my favorites of the celebration. This is a well rounded Double Pale Ale, balancing both hops and malt in a higher alcohol ale. I was able to purchase the green wax-dipped bottle during the celebration, and it brings back not only the recent memories but also the memories of working on my GI MBA back when the brewpub first opened. Extremely limited and thoroughly enjoyed.
