Refreshing, interesting, cucumber crazy. I could see drinking this instead of Pimms at a garden party, a nice novelty and done well, but not a first choice for me.

Served on tap at the Oak Park Micro Brew Review. Appearance is a clear gold with bone white head. Nose is oozing with fresh vegetal cucumber qualities with some cereal grains mixed in there for good measure. Taste is straight cucumber, not unlike drinking cucumber water. It is almost as if a few slices of cucumber were dropped in a glass of pils. Not getting much in the way of hops, although there is a mild grainy malt presence beneath the hefty cucumber character. Mouthfeel is light and refreshing. Overall, a well integrated vegetable beer. Cucumbers aren't my favorite food item, but this beer would make a nice 12oz can to bring to the beach and drink under the sun.

Appearance: Pale yellow. Looks a bit like a session pale ale due to its density. Not a whole lot of carbonation.

Smell: The lemongrass and cucumber is unmistakable. Very refreshing and floral smell.

Taste/Mouthfeel: I really love the subtle cucumber notes in this. It helps leave a crisp and refreshing mouthfeel.

Overall Drinkability: I think Goose Island probably just made one batch of this, but I wish they would make more. It's a great change of pace for their many great stouts and Belgians and a fantastic alternative to a shandy.

Pretty standard czech pils.

You can't really smell the cucumbers, but a refreshing hop malt combo from a fresh brew is prevalent.

Opposite the smell, you can really taste the cucumber. The malt, and hop, take back stage to enhance the cucumber taste.

Crisp and refreshing, moderate sized bubbles. Leaves quickly.

Of the beer experimentals I have had, this one is probably my favorite. It wasn't even like beer in a sense, but cucumber cider. Refreshing, unique, and once the barrels are tapped... probably never to be seen again.

Pale golden straw color, fine clarity. A collar of delicate white foam encircles the glass, and the thin layer of foam ebbs to an equally delicate veil on the surface.

Aroma is earthy and green, slightly vegetal, something vaguely herbal. Hints at cucumber but it's not overt.

The taste has more in common with the vegetable, very earthy, green with noble hops and grated cucumber skin. Dry and crisp feel, light bodied, easy drinking. There's a residual earthiness in the aftertaste as well that dries it out nicely. A drinkable pils, unique and worth drinking again.

On tap at Durty nellies. Clear light straw color. Served in a pint glass. Served with a minimal white head that quickly reduces to a thin surface coating. Some light lacing. Aroma is weak, but what is there is cucumber. Specifically it smells of cucumber skin, with the green, bitter aroma. The are some herbal noble hops in the mix. Taste is similar, but a bit more developed. Crisp pilsner malts, cucumber - again the bitter skin seems to dominate, and a bit of grassy, herbal hops. Thinner body. Good carbonation. Fairly dry. Mild bitterness. In the end this is an interesting beer. The cuke flavor is quite pronounced.

A: Straw colored, slight haze
S: A little breadiness and a hint of an acceptable vegetable aroma but not clearly cucumber
T: This is where this beer shines. Distinct flavor of cucumber, nicely balanced with the malt. Then the crisp dryness of the pilsner washes that away, and I can hardly tell in the aftertaste that this was made with cucumber. (Burps remind me that it was indeed though.)
M: Light to medium body, I would just a little more body.
O: Unique, ambitious beer that definitely succeeds at what it is trying to do. I would get this again on a hot day. I don't even like cucumbers all that much. I always remove them from my salads. But they work in this beer.

Two finger head with excellent retention on a clear bright gold body. Aroma of sweet corn, pale malts, hint of cucumber and sweet lemon custard. Flavors include mild grains and malts with some sweet corn. The cucumber is much more apparent but well applied so that it is mild and compliments the base beer instead of overwhelms it. Light body and light to moderate carbonation. Very clean feel. Nice sweet veggie flavor, very easy to drink. Definitely worth trying.
