Cheers: Modern trendy dark blue/black interior, looks like something out of California interiors. Lit candles add class, but could easily catch arm hair, shirt, flammable breath on fire. Various forms of art displayed on the walls so you can fake staring at the art when you are really checking out some lookers. No Bills pennents or Blue banners. Comfy couches to pass out in. Outstanding selection of Belgians and decent tap lineup. Bumping club/house music. Not on Chippewa.
Jeers: Way too many people trying to be hip without any Vespas parked out front. C'mon. PBR sign in window.
In reality, I am jealous. I really would have liked this place when I was younger. Since I have officially joined the old farts club, this place just isn't for me.

*** Walking tour of Allen Street Hardware Cafe & Colter Bay ***
The ritzy posh style bar of a three bar walk pub crawl. Mostly consists of bottle selection of SNPA, Chimay Bleu, Rochefort (?) Dixie, 3 Cassis Framboise, Fling Dog Hefe & Pale, Youngs 2xchocolate and organic, Celebrator, Satan, Saxo, Nostradamous, Pilsner Urquell, Victory Hop Devil, Rogue Dead Guy and a few others.
Taps: Blue Point Hopnotical Illusion, Val Dieu, Regue Dead guy, Delrium Tremons, PBR, Stella and Guinness.
Interior was a swank dark blue painted walls and exposed bick with paintings on the wall and a narrow layout with 8 taps. Barkeep was a little aloof talking with the professional white collar locals.
Could you take Mom here? I guess. It seems like a "cocktail longue with good beer."

Wow! Finally a bar in downtown Buffalo that has a decent beer list!
Not your typical beer bar though.... a long narrow space with VERY low lighting and lots of candles. Cool artwork that changes often adorn the walls. As you walk in there are about 8 low couches with coffee tables. A great place to chill and and enjoy some good beer. A long, narrow bar is on the right side. A few plasma tv's behind the bar. Chalkboards next to the bar announce the current bottle beer selection. Not bad at all... several Belgians including all of the Lindeman's Lambics. The bottled list is usually about 40-50 strong.
On tap... you never know. The owner and staff are VERY beer knowledgable and seek out brews that no one else in Buffalo would dream of carrying. There are usually 2 obscure Belgians and an off the wall German beer available. The taps rotate frequently. Pabst is a mainstay.... but hey... where else in Buffalo can you get PBR on tap. There are about 10 taps.
Food wise.. awesome panini sandwiches and some of the best thin crust pizza around. They also have a really good wine list by the glass.
If you're in Buffalo this place is a must! Easy, metered parking right out front.
