Went into chicago for the night this past weekend and decided to stop in at the brewpub for lunch and a beer. It was pretty easy to find and parking wasnt a problem at the time. I could imagine on a busy night you might have to search around a bit harder though.

The atmosphere was very relaxed. It wasnt very busy when we first got there, but gradually began to pick up as we were finishing. The area was very clean and well layed out with plenty of room to walk around and plenty of seats at the bar.

Service was pretty good. The waiter "couldnt" split up our check for some reason and there was a mistake on it also, but he was quick to fix the problem. He also didnt know if there was any happy hour deals at the time and mis quoted a promotional price they were running on the beer i got. Other then the little things he was friendly and eager to help.

Selection was good. I was hoping for some more interesting things on tap that arent offered in bottles. I stuck with the willow st. wheat, which is a american pale wheat since i didnt want anything to strong before the drive home. If i was staying in town i would definitely had tried the tripel or bareywine they offer.

Food was excellent. I ordered the cripsy chicken tenders with pub chips. The chips were very well seasoned and a hit at the table. The chicken was also very good and although it looked like a small portion when it was first brought out, each tender was solid with chicken so it ended up filling me up. We also tried the buffalo calamari. The buffalo sauce dominates the flavor but they are quite tasty and washed down clean with the willow st. wheat. Others at the table ordered a bacon cheese burger and the stilton burger, all of which said it was one of the best burgers they've had.

I spent about $15 for a beer and meal which is pretty good, especially for chicago. Monday night is $9 pitcher night and 1/2 off apetizers, so if i lived up there that was be on my schedule every week.

overall the place makes me miss having thirsty dog brewpub 10min from my house. Its nice to go to a place with a relaxed atmosphere where you can have good food and beer without breaking the bank.

Old school, and better for it. Large square centrally located wooden bar just past the side entrance where you can see the tanks and people taking tours. The bar has super old school and comfy elbow rests with some old but clean dark wood. As mentioned this particular bar is just at the side entrance, it is surrounded by restaurant seating. The main side is a whole other restaurant style area.

Very quick, friendly and informative service, making you feel like you're in a small town bar than a huge bustling city. Tons of quality brews on with a wide variety. Don't be turned off by so many lagers, some are jarringly complex.

The food looked good but unfortunately we did not order any while we were present.

2/1/16 - This gem on the North Side has over 20 beers on tap, including cask conditioned beers. Servers knowledgeable and beers served in proper glassware. Food good, not great. Join the MBA program for free growlers every 15 beers.

One of my favorite stops every time I'm in CHicago! The vibe of this bar is somewhere between Cheers, a brewery, and your favorite hole in the wall neighborhood bar. Always great music on, from classic rock to early 90's rap. The service is always great with most servers being knowledgeable about both the beer and food menus.

The food and beer selection are both excellent. The food ranges from traditional pub fare (burgers, fish and chips, pretzels) to more contemporary items (meatloaf, club sandwich, pulled pork). As for the beer list, at least 10-15 offerings on tap, maybe 20, I can't remember the exact number. They have most Goose offerings, from 312, Sofie, and Matilda, to in-house releases, both year round and smaller batches. Last time I was there, the 1814 brown ale, Impervious stout, and Campfire smoked Helles were all awesome. They also have some of the more limited Goose offerings occasionally. They also have a small, high quality tap/bottle list of both ciders and wine for those non-beer people in your party.

Overall, this is just the type of bar I love frequenting. Old school feel and vibe once you're inside, good food, awesome beer, friendly staff, and not much of the pretentiousness so many tasting rooms/brew pubs today have evolved towards.

Nice spot, pretty big, with above average food. Nothing mind blowing on tap unfortunately, but good service and some cool things that aren't normally on tap in the North East. Can get flights, would certainly visit again.

Visited at 6 on a Friday. It was pretty busy but not overwhelming. Got a seat at the smaller back bar. Solid selection, including several ipa/APA variants, which I like. Didn't get any food. I know that goose is a bit "corporate" at this point, but this place is fine for some good craft selections

Sat in the bar area at a table, decent crowd for a Monday but the Cubs were playing a playoff game. Waitress didn't have much to say about the beer, was barely around. Plenty of interesting options on tap, had the cuban sandwich and it was excellent.

-Layout is fine. Well-designed, but pretty standard. Nothing physically to set it apart from a thousand other pubs.
-Service was great. Everyone was polished, crisp, on their game.
-Food... bad. Highly disappointing poutine (to save time I won't elaborate, suffice to say everything about it was wrong), decent German-style burger, the few other things I had were OK.
-You know their distributed beers. All are solid (312) through incredible (BCBS). Their pub-only brews are fair through great, usually leaning towards fair. Maybe they test the marketability of potential wide-release brews here? It is nice that a lot are brewed on-location.
-Only their beers are available, but they also have a good selection of wines and spirits.
-Growler fills available.
-T-shirts and other merchandise is available.

With so many other places with actual character nearby, I wouldn't pick this as my first choice for a place to hang out with friends. Still, if I am here, I know that there are a few humbly great brews beneath those handles.
