This review is based on two separate visits based around the 2011 Stout Fest on March 11th.
Like previously stated, the building is fantastic. I really like the Urban setting of the Brewpub, yet they are able to keep it classy and sophisticated. We arrived around 11:30 when Stout Fest was set to start at noon, so we headed over into the bar area for a pre-drink. It was pretty crammed, as everyone was dressed in green and coming from the St. Patty's Day parade. We had never been here before. We sat at a table, and I went up to the bar to grab a couple beers, returned to the table to be confronted by a server giving us a lesson on how to order a beer when sitting at a table at Goose Island Clybourn. I didn't realize there were such strict rules. That was a little off-putting. The beers were good though. Emily started with the Green Line (ehh kinda mediocre) and I had the Lake Effect Strong Ale. Enjoyed the Lake Effect.
The Stout Fest ran smoothly. Goose Island did a fantastic job hosting such an event. It was nice to have the back dining room open for us to relax, take our time, take notes, etc. The conference room where the booths were set up was a little crowded from time to time, but after a few hours into the Fest people started to clear out, and we had our way.
Now the second part of our visit was a few days later after we stopped at Binny's to check and see if they had any KBS left. (they didnt), so we headed over to Clybourn to grab a pint. Our two beers turned out to be around $15. Both served in snifters. I felt it was a little expensive. The beer was good, but I would have rather hopped over to the Hopleaf and got two Angels Share for less.
Good experiences overall, just a few things. I guess being from a small town, you have to expect that service may be lacking in a large city, especially on St. Patty's day events. And of course higher prices. I really like Clybourn, I will return.
