This full frontal EXPOSED me to flavor. It left me Naked! It tasted like beaver. That is, if beaver was full bodied, well balanced, and good. Perhaps not the best piece pizza brew but they're all decent. I always recommend trying all of them.

Bottoms up!

on tap at the brewery

appearance: served in a pint glass, hazy apricot body with a full fluffy white cap

smell: a burst of hops, orange citrus, grapefruit...the citrus overwhelms the pine and the malts are all but buried on the nose...hopbomb!

taste: superhoppy APA - love it. strong grapefruit hops, orange peel, apricot, high bitterness, hints of almonds and general toasted nuttyness...if this was my local APA, i would drink it with very high frequency

mouthfeel: moderate bitterness, strong hop bite

drinkability: good

On tap at Piece.

Hazy orange color with a very slight, almost non-existant head.

Light smells of orange citrus, pine resin, and a slight sweetness. The smell is faint.

The hops are not overpowering, but are present. It has a piney nose and then it's nothing but sweet orange flavor backed by malt. This is not very bitter at all.

Medium to light body, crisp, and refreshing.

This goes down extremely easy and of the few beers I've had at Piece this is easily my favorite.

This is pretty much a year-round staple at Piece.

Had this after a Camel Toe IPA, and I have to say this is Camel Toe Lite (or Amarillo Brillo Lite). Extremely sessionable, "aggressively hopped" according to the menu notes. All the elements are similar to the aformentioned IPA's, but toned down 50%. Piney with a tropical hint of hop resin, some lacing tops the hazy orange body. Nice residual bitterness, a touch dry but juicy with hop character. A bit slick feeling, but easily drinkable. If I didn't already have a growler of IPA in my fridge, this would be a good #2 substitute. Try this at least once when you visit Piece.

On tap at Piece, served in a pint glass.

A: Clear brass with a small white head.

S: Nice fresh citrus aroma. Cream, orange peel, grapefruit, a bit of mango.

T: Light pithy bitterness, clementine, papaya, light cracker malt. Very citrusy with a nice clean malt base.

M. Light-bodied, creamy feel.

O. I was pleasantly surprised. A really nice, citrusy APA with a good feel to it.

Growler poured into tulip.

A- Pours a hazy dark amber with a two finger head that sticks around for a while that slowly dissipates leaving a thin cap and lines of lacing behind.

S- Caramel and toffee malt upfront, with pine, orange peel, grapefruit and floral hops.

T- A nice mixture of caramel and toffee sweetness mixed with citrus peel including orange, grapefruit and a hint of pineapple. Pine and grassy hops follow as well as some floral notes.

M- Medium carbonation and body. A nice crisp mouthfeel that finishes a bit bitter and dry.

O- Had no problem having a couple glasses of this. Very easy to drink and pretty flavorful. Nothing too crazy or complex, but it's nice to have a simple APA once in a while.

Served in a pint glass at Piece 1/3/07.

A: Hazy golden color. 1/2 finger head dissolves to foam skim and ring. Tons of lace.

S: Huge notes of hop infused grapefruit. Unbelievable hop aroma. Can smell it from 2 feet.

T: Major hop flavors balanced by an assertive malt backbone. Keeps the the "grapefruit" from getting out of control. Hops gain a piney characteristic in the finish. Delicious!

M: Perfect for the style. Not too thin and not too thick and syrupy. Just right. Hops lend a puckery and astringent quality to the mouthfeel.

D: Yikes! This is a perfectly drinkable APA. Wonderful hop flavors balanced by just the right amount of malt. Whew.

This is easily an IPA, as opposed to the listed APA. Much too hoppy for a pale. I don't believe it is a winter seasonal either. Anyways, it's tough to sell since Piece doesn't provide any information about their beers other than a name.

The beer pours to a slightly hazy ruby red color. Moderate off-white head. Decent retention, though little lacing.

The smell is great. Lots of grapefruity hops aromas with a hint of pine and grass. Reminds me very much of the Bear Republic Racer 5 I had earlier that day. A little pale malt sweetness hiding below, but mostly just hops aroma.

The taste is very similar to the aroma. A bit sweet up front, followed by an intense rush of grapefruit and pine. Huge grassy finish. Not overly bitter, but still plenty of hops.

The mouthfeel is weird, and something I've noticed in all the Piece beers I tried. Seems a bit chalky, as if there was some type of powder coating the palate before it gets washed away in the swallow. Fairly dry finish with a lingering grassy aftertaste. Carbonation is quite crisp. Very easy to drink. I would have it again, but I doubt I will find myself at Piece any time in the near future, if ever again.

Growler fill from the brewery poured into a Tulip glass.

A: Deep amber/ruby opaque color. Pure white head of 2 finger head, not very dense though. Good retention and lacing.

Smell: Floral, piney, some tropical fruits, mango/pineapple/orange/lemon zest.

Taste: Doesn't quite live up to the aroma. A little malty. Not very bitter or dry.

Mouthfeel: Clean and crisp with moderate carbonation, a tad sticky on the finish, not very dry or wet but easy to drink.

Overall: Solid APA from a local brewery. I'd have this again, although they had a better offering (Camel Toe) at the brewery that wasn't available in growlers. I'm satisfied polishing off this growler with my pizza - above average brew. Don't seek it out but give it a try if you're there.

First had: on tap at the brewpub

Review from notes. Slightly hazy peach-amber pour with a small foamy white head; moderate retention and lacing. Nice aroma, citrus and pine hops slightly edge out the caramel malt sweetness. This is reflected in the taste: citrus hops, fresh grass, wort, caramel malts. It's a pretty typical APA, and that's not a bad thing. Light-medium body, easily drinkable.

Hazy orangeish-amber color with a solid 2 finger thick white head that left rings of sticky lace.

Citrus blast in the nose, along with piney, resiny hops. For such an intense aroma, the taste is somewhat mild, though certainly still rather robust. Malty sweetness asserts itself and nicely complements the Cascade hops and orange zest. Medium-bodied with an appropriate level of carbonation.

Pours a hazy peach color with nice floaties. Looks like this had been dry hopped in the kegs. Nice one finger head holds nicely with decent lacing. Citrus fruit notes are pretty hefty. Pineapple and pine notes round out the nose. Cascades, amarillo, and centennials definitely in there somewhere.

Citrus fruit notes are most abundant. Pineapple, pine needles, and citrus fruit notes. Bitterness is pronounced but towards the finish lasting well into the aftertaste. Dry finish makes this quite quaffable. Had two of these and enjoyed each. Could have drank these all day long.
