Piece Swingin' Single was served up in a pint at Map Room's 19th anniversary.

Bright gold, brilliant clarity, visible trails of upwardly travelling carbonation. Thin layer of white foam, leaving a minimal amount of spotty lacing here and there. Veil of skim across the surface breaks quickly.

Aroma is fairly simple and coarse, grainy with some yeastiness.

Mild flavors of husky grain, sticky hot cereal, sulfuric yeast. Light bodied, somewhat flaccid feel. Plenty of carbonation, some astrigency. Seems a bit young and coarse, nothing much to it, but nothing offensive. Lacks any complexity of Belgian yeast though. Something to drink if you need a break from high gravity stuff, but overall nothing special.

2012: Got served this by mistake, and drank it. Light tartness, grainy middle, light Belgian yeast also. Ok, fairly average though.

I believe they were actually calling this a Belgian "single," but tripel is the category that fits closest here with what I actually tasted.

A: Bright yellow with a good white head and pretty decent lacing.

S: Pale malt with plenty of Belgian yeast; banana and bubblegum.

T: Similar to the nose. The bubblegum is definitely present, as well as some banana and a bit of spiciness.

M: Pretty creamy with low carbonation. Fairly light-bodied.

D: Very drinkable. Nice and refreshing. Hope they keep this throughout the warmer months.

Served in a tulip glass at the brewpub.

Continuing my Piece cherry-poppin' with this brew. It pours a clear brass topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises clove, black pepper, wheat, and a hint of banana peel. The taste brings in more of the same, with some more clove, a pinch of cinnamon, and a hint of lemon zest. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, a nice little beer, another unspectacular but decidedly drinkable brew here.

On-tap poured into tulip glass.

Had this one last night waiting for my pizza at Piece.

I guess Belgian Single is their definition for Belgian Pale Ale. Really doesn't make a difference, since good beer is good beer by any name.

A: Golden color to the top of the glass. No head. (It was served this way at our table). Pretty average.

S: Crisp citrus overtones.

T: Somewhat milder from other Belgian Pale Ales I've tried. Can definitely pick up the citrus taste.

M: Good carbonation. Nice and crisp.

D: Not too light, not too heavy, just right. Besides, even my fiance (who doesn't drink a lot of beers, let alone Belgian-style beers) liked this one, so any beer I like that I can get her to drink with me = more beer = good.

Looking forward to getting a growler of this to-go next time I visit Piece.

Beer names are fun at Piece. This one was on-tap, and thought I'd give it another go since I liked it the first time I had it. Belgian style, and a good one at that.

Served to the top in a tulip glass (a bit girlie) but fine.

Golden yellow color. Enjoy the mild citrus to it. Crisp. Smooth. Refreshing. And great with my pizza.

At 6% it's easy to drink - like water. Carbonation is just right.

Find that guys just as much as ladies like this one alot.
