This is my kind of place! "aww the staff has tattoo and is kind of rude, boo hoo"...ok, then go to Giodando's in the Loop then. If you can't handle tattooed servers, non-Chicago style pizza, great beer, eclectic (but surprisingly awesome) selection of music, please avoid this.
I arrived after work on Friday at about 4:30. I was waiting for my wife and was told I could wait at the bar. Ok, strange since it was still early and not many people were there. I could have just grabbed a seat at a table. I ordered the Stout while I waited. The menu is simple and straightforward...no messing about, easy to read. Beers, their styles, awards, and short descriptions are in the menu.
Got a table after my wife arrived and ordered a pizza. What a brilliant change of pace from normal Chicago style (and by that I mean deep AND thin crust Chicago style) pizza. The food seemed to pair beautifully with the beer, if on purpose or by accident I'm not quite sure.
The music was farking brilliant and seemed to be straight out of my music collection. One moment we'd hear Siouxsie and the Banshee, followed up by a 1950's oldie, followed by Junior Senior...just awesome! Eclectic but awesome...not the droning heavy metal you hear at Kumas or Local Option, but just as good (stuff you wouldn't normally hear on the radio!).
Staff is all tatt'd up, which was great. That sort of thing makes me feel very comfortable. Value was good, not expensive at all really: 3 beers + 1 small pizza (perfect for 2 people who don't glutten themselves) = ~26 bucks.
I love this place and will return as often as I can stomach the hipster-laden and hippie-smelling Wicker Park.

Piece is a must visit for out of towners. Everyone has to get over the idea that all Chicagoans only eat is deep dish. While you won't find an extensive beer list here you will find a small, but great selection of Piece brews. They have their regulars / year rounds (4-6) with a small rotation of seasonals and limited releases (2-3 beers).
It's always busy, but if you go for an early or late dinner then getting a table shouldn't be a problem. Avoid this place 5pm-8pm or you can put your name in and walk around Wicker Park while you wait. There are plenty of bars to get a beer at while you wait an unreasonably long time.
The beers are above average with a few standing out against others. Most of the brews are of the Belgian style (not my cup of tea), but they do some great stouts and porters. My personal favorite, Flatiron is a solid oatmeal stout with some chocolate notes.
The pizza is what really sets this place apart. Do not order a pepperoni and cheese with red sauce. It's a great pizza, but you have so many other options here that you're doing yourself a disservice. We always order the white pizza with mashed potatoes and bacon. Delicious.
Piece is a great spot for game days and I'd suggest going early then bar hopping in Wicker Park or down Division (a few blocks south) for a great sampling of Chicago night life.
