I've been to Piece twice now under very different circumstances. My first visit was on a beer-related trip with fellow BAs on a very busy Saturday night, the second with a large group of family (including my kids - 3 and 5) on an early Sunday evening. Both visits were resounding successes.
The space is visually appealing, and the long communal tables in the main room fun at busy times.
The house-made beers that I've tried (mostly IPAs so far) have been very good to outstanding. There was a wide selection available on each visit, covering a broad ranges of styles. In addition, they have a nice tap and bottle list of other craft beers, including Three Floyds and Bear Republic. Nice.
The pizza is amazing. I thought perhaps I was in a sufficient state of refreshment on my first visit that my senses may have been deceived, but I'm happy to report that was not the case. Truly delicious stuff, and in my top three pizza places for sure.
Service has been good despite the crowds, with fine beer knowledge and an appropriate level of attention. Prices are very fair, and bordering on cheap for Chicago.

Piece is a must visit for out of towners. Everyone has to get over the idea that all Chicagoans only eat is deep dish. While you won't find an extensive beer list here you will find a small, but great selection of Piece brews. They have their regulars / year rounds (4-6) with a small rotation of seasonals and limited releases (2-3 beers).
It's always busy, but if you go for an early or late dinner then getting a table shouldn't be a problem. Avoid this place 5pm-8pm or you can put your name in and walk around Wicker Park while you wait. There are plenty of bars to get a beer at while you wait an unreasonably long time.
The beers are above average with a few standing out against others. Most of the brews are of the Belgian style (not my cup of tea), but they do some great stouts and porters. My personal favorite, Flatiron is a solid oatmeal stout with some chocolate notes.
The pizza is what really sets this place apart. Do not order a pepperoni and cheese with red sauce. It's a great pizza, but you have so many other options here that you're doing yourself a disservice. We always order the white pizza with mashed potatoes and bacon. Delicious.
Piece is a great spot for game days and I'd suggest going early then bar hopping in Wicker Park or down Division (a few blocks south) for a great sampling of Chicago night life.
