This is the place to go if you need a 30 pack of Bud Light at a good price.
As far as BA standards for a place to get beer?
I found myself in the neighborhood and decided to give the place a try.
Turned out to have a pretty decent selection. A few offerings each of Belgian, German and English brews. Saw some Fuller's Vintage ale for sale. Delirium, Sam Smiths, St. Peter's, Ayinger.. many of the usual suspects.
Not too shabby in the American brew department (Allagash, Ommegang, Victory, Stoudts, Long Trail and more) Nothing overtly exciting but certainly enough to get the job done.
Prices were on the higher side of the spectrum for things not Bud, Miller or Coors. 750mL bottles of Ommegang ran $8 and over; most six packs were around $10. Quite a few dusty bottles, quite a few bottles past expiration dates.
Trying to actually purchase stuff was a bit of a nightmare. People were buying their lotto tickets and that took quite some time. When I finally got to the register much of what I was trying to purchase hadn't been entered into their computer system, or wasn't scanning right, or was scanning as a case instead of a bottle...
I asked about the price of Rodenbach Grand Cru and the guy at the register offered Allagash Grand Cru as an alternative when I was leaning away from the $9 Rodenbach... This would indicate a lack of knowledge regarding the products being sold.
There's no need whatsoever to go out of your way to get to this place, but if you find yourself in the area it's probably the only place around that carries anything tasty.

I travel to Long Island a couple times a year and was looking for a place to get some goods to take back to PA. Greywulfken was kind enough to tip me off to this little gem of a beer store. Located in a small strip mall, Beer City is quite unassuming and inconspicuous. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by several friendly staff. A good bit of the store is comprised of stacks of cases and about a dozen doors to cold beer access. The rest of the store is made up of shelves of crafts and a dozen or so craft beers on tap (I am presuming for growlers). The craft bottle selection was excellent. I picked up some Union Jack, Biscotti Break, Sixpoint Global WArmer, Maine Zoe, and Noel de Calabaza(2012 issue). There were a lot of Belgians as well and prices were reasonable. The single bottle selection was a bit disorganized but if you took the time to look around, the gems can be had. A cool place with good staff and great selection. I will return

Atmosphere: the biggest part is dedicated to mass produced beer, naturally, but the craft section is the manager's passion, so it has grown over time and craft beers are quite well-represented.
Quality: the craft beer section is jam-packed into a corner just past the register; craft beer end-caps adorn the area; there is a cooler of craft miscellany, several doors of craft alongside the BMC beers, and a growler station with like 10-12 taps - the growler selection is constantly turning over
Service: Real good guys for talking to - all seem to really dig the beer; the manager is very on-top of beer happenings and makes efforts to bring new and interesting beer into his store.
Selection: great selection across the boards, products are turned over, beers kept fresh; seems like most of the newly-released stuff finds its way here, even if in very limited quantities.
Price: for Long Island? Reasonable.

I moved out of New York several years ago and I remember this place from when my dad would take me to pick up his 30 packs of Budweiser. The first time in since was a year ago, and now I make it a point to stop every time I'm in town. I was in this past weekend and had another awesome experience! growler fills, mix a six, rare bottles, super reasonable prices, very knowledgeable staff & amazingly helpful! definitely worth a stop, if you don't see what you want, ask. They do special draft releases with local breweries and suggested some great beer centric restaurants to check out. Gave the atmosphere a 4 because it's a warehouse style beer distributor but the draft system seems amazingly clean and I've never had a problem with "bad" beer.
