Lots of quality beers and a great selection of Quebec's brewers, but a little overpriced.
Nowadays you can find most of these beers in many other stores, but they have some stuff I couldn't find elsewhere. They are very knowledgable and mostly friendly, but still even for a noob like me, I was too geeky for them. And the place is way too small and packed with stuff making the shopping experience a little tedious.

This place is awesome, if you wanna become poor but going home with lots of craft beer from pretty much any of the micro in Quebec, its the place to go. If you have questions , those guys are beer geeks. One of these days they will have to get bigger to include more of the US craft beers. I mean theres so much more that i would like to taste, Allagash, Ommegang, russian river and on and on.
I go there and i spend around an hour just to shop around read beer labels. Its ''the place around Quebec City.

Visited 18jun2005, less than a week after it opened.
Tucked away in the somewhat rough around the edges but slowly getting gentrified Basse-Ville section of Québec city, le monde des bières is a convenience store with it's main focus set on Beer. A room temp section to your left, fridges in the back and right, an island cash register/sandwich bar in the center, a few tables near the front (can't drink Beer here, but they've got fancy coffee and I think the place has one of those Wi-Fi hotspot doohickeys).
Pretty much every available Québec micro, macro and macro-sponsored import is there, both at room temp if you plan to cellar, or refrigerated if you're ready to have some now. They're closer to most of the breweries than the stores in Montréal, so they might get new Beers faster from the likes of Barberie or Microbrasserie Charlevoix. They had one or two I've never seen back home before. While checking out the fridge Hugo, the owner, came to see me and we chatted a while. He just turned 30 and quit his teaching job to follow his dream of getting guys like me the hooch we need to get nice and wasted. He's a fan of micros, not necessarily an expert, but he seemed to know his products well. I asked him if he had any glassware for sale, and he escorted me to his "vault". The store used to be a bank, and the vault is still there. He built a few shelves and stores his glassware and special bottles in there. It wasn't to his liking yet, but it looked good to me, especially with all those limited edition 10th anniversary Fin du Monde bottles! He also talked about starting a cellar.
A recommended visit for anyone visiting our province's capital.
