Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. No freshness date.
A- Pours a medium amber color with a 1/4 inch off-white head that doesn't retain long before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a bubbly center patch of surface foam. Non-resilient lacing leaves a thin ring behind.
S- Nice hoppy aroma for a pale ale. Spicy and semi-citrusy with a solid malt backing.
T- Very well-balanced with the malt and hops vying for position but neither one overpowering each other. The malt is sweet and borders on being toasty while the hop character is decidedly vegetal and has a mild bitterness.
M- Has a hop bite that lingers slightly and gives it a somewhat oily feel. Medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.
O- I'm pleasantly surprised by this semi-hoppy pale from a brewery whose only good beer I thought was the Ninja Porter.
