Fresh pint on tap at local taproom/bottle shop, next county west of Asheville.
Great look, smell, and a near perfect smooth lager overall.

Nice golden color with thick white head that leaves some lacing. Nose a little subdued but true to style, lager malts with mild hops, not too sweet. Taste a rich balanced lager that could only be improved by adding a bit of complexity, but is definitely a step above a lot of American lagers. Good beer, second I've had from this brewery, and both have been tasty and true to style. Poured from can with 5-03-16 date, presumably the production date.

Using the best of both worlds, Asheville Brewing uses what's best in the crisp dry and refreshing taste and texture of pilsner but also the soft and supple fruitiness of ale for a German-styled kolsch beer that offers subtle hints of complexity but in a high quaffing form
The bright and golden ale glimmers in the glass while its soft breadiness wafts onto the nose. Light apple and citrus accompany the fresh graininess and keep the sulfury scent restrained. Early flavors of fresh baking bread, dry crackers and a subtle doughy sweetness charm the sense to start the session.
And over the palate, the hybrid beer rolls through a drying bread taste and texture, inviting a light honeysuckle coat to offer a floral and fruity taste. Lemon, apple, light pear and berry add a smoothness to a mild hop bite of grassy and peppery bitterness.
Medium-light on the palate, the beer's dry demeanor plays upon the raw grain and grass of the beer leaving a light minty-hop finish and a linger of bread and herb.

L: Pours brilliant gold under a 1” lacy white foam cap that descends to a thick film moderately fast.
S: Spicy earthy hops, light grain, trace of pine. Hop aromas are medium, malt aromas are medium low.
T: Moderately rich malt with a light sweetness balanced by a trace of tartness on the finish. Some grainy dryness on the finish accented by a pleasant moderate bitterness that lingers.
F: Medium light body and medium carbonation.
O: This is a good lager that is easy to drink.
