Take the road across from Barley's that goes by the parking lot and you can walk right to Asheville Brewing. It's about 3 blocks away. As stated it's in an old garage. They had 8 taps, all house brews. I didn't see any bottle selections. They also had a large selection of board games and a gameroom. I was driving and had already downed a couple of pints from Barley's so I didn't have any of their beers. But my usually macro drinking buddy really liked them. On this particular night it was open mic night and I was impressed at the talent that was playing. The service was average. You had to go to the bar to order a beer, but it was usually brought to you promptly. A previous review from October says that they will be brewing the beers on site in 3 weeks. As of now in Feb. the beers are still brewed at the theater and brought to Asheville Brewing in kegs. I would like to go back with someone else driving next time. (926 characters)

My visit was on a Tuesday afternoon for a business trip. We were looking for somewhere to bide time and this brewpub seemed like a good choice. They have a nice outdoor area that is almost the size of the restaurant...looks like it would make a decent music venue, but currently hosted one family, several hipsters with dogs, and a couple of bums. We decided to eat inside because of the dogs and bums.

The brewery was very representative of Asheville with tattooed employees and a very social crowd. Maybe we chose the wrong menu items, but the beer and food were both just OK. Still not a bad place to relax, but with so many breweries in Asheville, I would pass over ABC next time. (692 characters)

Next we walked a ways past the local bus station and into the "brewery district" for a visit to one of the city's oldest (1998) craft breweries. The bar itself was small and a bit over-hot already at noon on this fine spring day, so we settled outside in the large covered patio. Service was a little spotty out there, but the servers were pleasant when they actually came to the table. They had a lot of beers of varying styles, but most were just mediocre. The best of the lot for me were the Bronson Oat Brown and the Holy Ninja Oyster Porter. A big deal was made about their recently released double IPA, but I didn't love it. The brewery is known for pizza, pub food, and being kid friendly. They can some their beers and I found them in restaurants and bars all over town. Worth a spin by, but not the best place we found in town. (844 characters)

Located around the corner from the excellent Hi-Wire Brewing Company, Asheville Brewing is one of the area’s older brewpubs – this location is where their beer is brewed and distributed; there are two others in the region. It is a popular venue, spacious, homey and bustling with families, tourists and regulars seeking out their beers. There is a small bar area towards the front with a dining area adjacent; in another room (where one can find the restrooms) is another dining area. Like many Asheville establishments, ABC offers a large (sheltered) outdoor patio.

There are usually eight drafts available: several of which are offered year-round. There most popular seems to be the Shiva IPA, which is refreshing while not overwhelmed by hops; others include a sessional IPA (Perfect Day), Ninja Porter and Scout Stout. Beers are available to go - as do most places in Asheville.

Food-wise, the menu contains the usual assortment of pub grub that involves an eclectic array of burgers, sandwiches and pizza. (That said, their buffalo wings can be described as palate melting. Hot! Really hot!) During the warmer months, ABC even shows movies. Nice touch and a very nice place for some decent beers. But one dares not tarry as Asheville offers much, much more ….. next stop: Burial Beer, which is another short walk. (1,327 characters)
