Served on tap at Jack of The Wood, Asheville, NC

Decent porter from "Beer City USA". Nothing too out of the ordinary though. it poured an inky black with a dirty brown head. The look was nice, but everything else was just about average. The flavors were all indicative of a porter, the problem was the the flavors simply were not there in abundance. The finish was watery with very subtle smoke, and given the style of beer I really would have appreciated something my palate could marinate on for an extended period of time.

A-Pours black with auburn hues around the edges. I poured it relatively hard so it had a decently thick off-white/tan head that dissipated rather quickly.

S-It had a funky smell to it at first, I believe it was due to it being straight from the growler because it had an odor that typically comes from food that has been sealed. That is why I deducted points from the nose. That aside, it smelled like a typical porter-roasted malts and some coffee.

T-Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, and some bitter hops. It seemed more bitter and hoppy than I expected.

M-It had a good mouthfeel, definitely not too thick which is good for the style.

D-Very drinkable as its not too heavy and has a good flavor.

Overall, this a solid porter and I would love to have it on tap sometime. I love Green Man Brewery in general and have yet to drink one of their beers that I didn't enjoy.

On tap at the Biere Garden in Asheville.

A - black with a thin brown lacing of head

S - roasty with a big coffee presence

T - creamy, roasty, coffee, faint chocolate, mildly bitter finish

M - medium to full bodied, smooth, little carbonation

This is a nice, traditional porter. It has solid flavor and good drinkability. I would definitely have this again.

Went to Jack of the Woods pub in Asheville NC and wanted to try something on cask. The choice was Green Man porter that night. Served in a pint glass, this beer was dark brown with a good size light tan head. head retention was decent and there was considerable lacing on the glass.

Aroma was a bit light, coffee and roasted malts were the strongest smells.

Tasted great!!!! Nothing like an ale on cask for smoothness!!!! This one went down real easy..Would be great for a session although the abv is a hair high by BA standards. Flavor of coffee and roasted malts with a little hops in the finish and a bit of chocolate.

Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth, light with rich flavor.

This one is a winner. The cask certainly added to the experience.

A: Arrived in a standard shaker glass.  Appeared dark brown with a moderate off-white head that stuck around briefly before setting to a patchy film and thin ring.  Minimal lacing on the edges of the glass.

S: Typical porter characteristics with some roasted malt, caramel, and a hint of chocolate.  Not much going on here, but an appealing porter nonetheless.

T: The taste follows the aroma pretty well.  Typical porter flavors with some roasted malt, chocolate, and some caramel that provides a nice sweetness toward the finish.  Again, not much going on here, but pleasant and tasty for what it is.

M: Pretty thin with a good bit of carbonation.  Slightly creamy and a bit tingly on the palate.  Starts out just a touch on the bitter side as the roasted barley comes out, but finishes a bit sweet with the caramel malt and chocolate.

D: Really easy to drink.  Pretty good balance, typical characteristics, and a bit thin, but enjoyable.

On Tap. Pours dark brown with an off-white, long lasting head and a good amount of lacing. Aroma is of cacao, brown sugar, toast, nutts and hints of dark fruit. Medium, smooth body. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is semi-sweet, long lasting. Light, easy drinking porter.

Went out for a pint with my wife the other night and grabbed one of these to start it off. Came out a thick dark black with a thin tawny head on top. Rich nose with big hits of coffee and chocolate. Lots of roasted goodness. The mouth is weighted perfectly as there is a nice chew to this one. This beer is teeming with a bounty of roasted coffee. There is a "green" element to this beer though. Leafy greens noticed in the flavor, with a fresh hop presence. Nice bitter snap at the end. This was a great beer, and one I would gladly have again.
