Dark brown with an auburn glow in the right light around the edges. Head is a couple fingers high at the start and recedes to a thin sheet and ring. Very light brown in head color. Aroma is creamy chocolate, something like green fresh coffee bean, vanilla, nicely malty, and a touch earthy. Taste is sweet, malty caramel and cocoa followed by a drawn out semi-bitter hoppiness, in the direction of pine, and resiny through the finish. Has a sprucy mintiness as well. Chocolate of various kinds...bittersweet, milky, dark, and cocoa-y... Pretty nice stuff. Good mouthfeel; creamy, silky soft, a liiiitle bit chewy.

12 ounce bottle -> New Belgium globe glass

A - pours up black with a small one finger head, no retention and no lacing.

S - rich chocolate aroma with some coffee notes

T - very malty and sweet with some vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and molasses.

M - just so-so

O - I wasn't impressed. It wasn't horrible, but I can think of a lot of better Porters.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a dark, deep, amber-highlighted brown coloring with a slim, filmy ring around the surface. Aromas of cream, bittersweet chocolate, and subtle roasted coffee. Extremely balanced nose, and very inviting. Flavors are chocolate forward, bitter and slightly roasted, with cream highlights and hints of vanilla. Very tasty, and once again, very well balanced. Light in mouth, with a dryness to it that keeps the sweet flavors in check. The aftertaste is more of the bitter coffee and cocoa notes, but the creamy sweet character does peek it's head out here and there at the end of each drink. The finish is slick, crisp, and slightly dry. Very solid, tasty brew.

A: Pours a clear but opaque black in color with light to moderate amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some reddish brown + cola brown highlights. The beer has a one and a half finger tall sudsy foamy light tan head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of roasted dark malts, almost slightly burnt.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of dark and roasted malts with just the slightest hint of burnt malts. Very light hints of bittersweet chocolate near the finish. Light amounts of bitterness which does not linger for too long.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: This is a very nice and enjoyable porter and probably my favorite beer from Green Man - it has been a solid brew for quite a while and one which is definitely sessionable. Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol.
