A - Pours a rich mahogany brown with a smooth, creamy, light tan head. The head is lasting a reasonable amount of time and this beer is overall very appealing. There is some yeast evident.

S - Big hop presence. Grapefruit is plentiful. A good bit of sweetness from the malt as well.

T - This is fairly bitter with a good bit of hop flavour. Nice earthy English hop flavour and possibly a touch of citrusy hops as well. There is a decent malt backbone here with some biscuity sweetness and some fruity yeast notes.

M - Good medium to heavy body with a crisp carbonation which accentuates the hops and really brings home the bitterness. The mouthfeel really helps to accentuate the beer.

D - This beer is really nice to drink. It has plenty of flavour and offer plenty of bitterness for an Australian beer. It is nice and refreshing and I could drink a few of these. The ABV is 5.8% which is at the higher end of sessionable but this is definately drinkable.

Surprisingly dark, quite murky. A dense 2 finger head. A great balance of toffee malt and citrus hops although the hops have dulled a touch, just a freshness thang. Great mouth-filling robust bitterness. Can't get over the balance of this beer. Can't wait to try a freshun. Good gear.

Cloudy and tan in colour. Scant head
The prominrnt hops are underpinned by a stewd blood plum bouquet.
The malt and hops are well balanced so that the experience is smooth but plenty sharp enough.
It is dry and thin in the mouth which allows the hops to shine.
A very enjoyable Ale indeed

Pours a dark red colour with good head and lacing.

Smell is fresh milk, yeast, malt and green apple.

Taste brings the goods. Very hoppy with a substantial bitterness. The hops have a largely herbal, leafy quality, with a bit more apple.

Mouthfeel is thick and really very good.

Highly sessionable stuff and easily among the best Australian IPAs.

A - Pours a light brown colour with reddish tinges. Fluffy off white head. Huge lacing is left.
S - Citrusy/piney hop aroma with some nice maltiness going on as well. A subtle earthy aroma is down there as well.
T - The malts come through here a bit more than the hops but I don't mind that. Biscuity goodness.
M - Pretty low carbonation, quite a thick mouthfeel.
D - May not be to everyones liking but to find a beer this tasty with a somewhat low alcohol level is ideal.
It'll be cool to see them maybe do a limited/seasonal release of a double IPA around 7 or 8%.

Pours a very dark copper, somewhat hazy. Huge fluffy head with strong retention and lacing.

Strong citrus hops dominate the nose, aided nicely by some tropical fruit aromas. Pleasant, not overly strong or complex.

A stack of fruit flavour on the palate, not only hops but yeast as well. Some really nice sweet malt characters in there as well. Good fruity hop bitterness. Well done.

Balance, clean and good bitterness level. Only complaint is that it finishes a little watery, but otherwise solid.

Not a bad drop. Not quite up to the standard of US IPAs but a good effort from a local mob. Just needs some work on the aroma and the finish. Otherwise, will drink again as this bottle dissipated quickly!

330 mL bottle poured into a schooner glass

A - deep amber colour with thein (2 mm) head which dispered very slowly into a thin lacing

S - Initial hoppy smell with hinits of malt, some citrus noted. Malty smell comes to dominate by halfway though the beer.

M - smooth, goes down easily and gets smooth

D - very easy to drink but very tasty. Has grown on me. Will definately drink it again.

Had on tap at the brewery 07/11/10.

Pours a deep burnished red-amber with minimal head, just a whisp of foam left on top. Slow bead, clear body. Have had better-looking IPAs.

Smell is very malty actually, with nice fruity hop aromas just congregating around the edges. Hints of apple with grapefruit, lemon and a touch of passionfruit. Malt is rich and nutty with a hint of chestnut and walnut. Could use stronger hops, but overall nice.

Taste is also quite malty, very strong malt base with caramel and burnt sugar, then hops emerge slowly rather than accentuating themselves. Not a huge amount of hop character, just hints of lemon zest with more earthy walnut bitterness. Nice finish though, robust bitterness at the end with slight fruity overtones.

Smooth, with a medium-full body. Quite slick around the edges. Maybe a bit light to carry the full extent of the bitterness.

Definitely has more English IPA character with the rich earthy malt, but one of the more milder and more enjoyable English IPAs I've had.

A - Pours a very dark burnt orange under a finger of dense frothy head and streaky lacing.

S - Citrusy hops up front but plenty of sweet malt brings an even balance.

T - Orange peel and apricot, honey and caramel.

M - Moderately carbonated, medium body, dry finish and nice level of bitterness.

O - A good Aussie IPA, I'd go for the Galaxy over this one though.

Pours a very deep red-brown colour, with a frothy and creamy head of pale, pale orange, which retains in hills and troughs across the top. Lacing is fine and intricate. Some cloudiness in the body - the colour looks pretty dark for the style. The head is a magnificent piece of work, however.

Lovely citrus and ripe tropical fruit aromas on the nose. Sweet tangerine, pawpaw and light crushed vegetation comes through. Quite sweet overall. Could be more robust and in my face, but pretty good as it stands.

Taste is well balanced between malt and hops, but big on both. Sharp clinging bitterness through the centre of the palate. with oddly fresh twinges around the edges. Grain is noticeable on the back, even lending a light roasted character to the finish. Feels slightly astringent at the end.

Oddly, this is darker than I expected in both appearance and taste - one could almost argue it's a take on a highly-hopped American Red Ale. Still, it's a nice brew.

Pours a dark amber / copper - one finger head - looks the biz. Head fades to lace.

Aromas mainly of pine / grapefruit, but I think I have served too cold.

Taste is a massive palate hit. Big hoppy inital hit but so much malt in there as well. Pine, grapefruit, and a full aftertaste. Grapefruit builds. All this @ 5.8% as well. And another taste which another reviewer notes as gunpowder, I can't put my finger on it either.

Mouthfeel is rich 'n' creamy.

A good find - will drink next one warmer....

Earthy red pour with a thin covering of off-white head.
Aroma has lots of grassy hops, lots of sweet fruit notes. Grapefruit, peach, apples and pear. Underlying sweet toffee malt is definitely not forgotten.
Nutty/toasty cereal malt is first impression upon tasting, followed by an impressive long-lasting bitterness characterised by a slight grapefruit hoppy note.
Quite highly carbonated. Nice heavy mouthfeel though.
Much more malt driven than several other IPA's I've had, which I'm quite partial to.

This beer pours a hazy copper hue with average carbonation that leaves a one finger creamy head that subsides into a layer of froth and lacing, the aroma is pine needle laced hops and caramel malts,it has an average mouthfeel with a big caramel malty flavour first up which finishes with a nice sting of citrus infused hop bitterness, quite a nice beer thats easy enough to drink but have had better.

Appearance - 3.5
Pours a finger of light beige head over a copper coloured body with lots of sediment.

Smell - 4.0
Lots of citrus hops, aroma of grapefruit, lime and orange and a little biscuity malt hiding in the background.

Taste - 3.0
A big beer with lots of hop character, which all but overwhelms the bready malt; quite right too for an IPA. The ugly, yeast-heavy character of many micro brewed Aussie beers raises its head in the form of an unpleasant sour taste. Other flavours of orange peel, grapefruit and a little metallic hops. Bitterness is assertive, just right for an IPA of this strength.

Mouthfeel - 3.5
Fine carbonation, goes down smoothly apart from the sour yeast.

Drinkability - 3.5
Won't be a come-back-to beer for me, but not hard to drink.

OVERALL - 3.35
I am getting really sick of repeating myself with these overly-yeasty Australian craft beers. If this is to continue to be a strong theme in Aussie brewed beers, I do not approve of it. To me this otherwise very good beer is spoiled into mediocrity. Overall not bad, but not good either, which is disappointing.
