A nice Golden brown/orange colour. 2 fingers of head in a snifter.

Huge nose. A whole bunch of passionfruit and underneath some sweetish notes, maybe from crystal malt.

Follows up the nose very well. A little one dimensional, but that's not really a flaw in a single hop ipa - it shows off galaxy very well and what a hop it is. Mmmm. Not hugely bitter - but bitter enough to be called an IPA, unlike some examples I have had recently.

Feels great in the mouth, smooth but still with plenty of carbonation - ideal for an IPA on tap.

Edit: in the bottle it was nowhere near as good. The wild fruitiness of galaxy stood alone unsupported by adequate bitterness or malt backbone. I will leave the review for the tap version though, as I really liked it. To be honest, I doubt there was a heap of difference, drinking a beer at a great bar with great friends certainly enhances the experience!

Appearance:
Poured into my Kilkenny branded 375 odd ml pub glass.
Slightly hazy/cloudy orange, poured a single finger head, which has dissipated very quickly. No carbonation or lacing at all, the cap came off rather easily I think I may have a bit of a dud.

Smell:
Definitely passionfruit, citrus, piney resin, caramel/toffee.

Taste: Slightly different from other IPA's I've tried, however a good balance of malt and hops, slight touch of citrusy pine with a nice mild drying bitterness. Would be a good introduction into the world of IPA.

Mouthfeel: Nice and soft full mouthfeel, as mentioned no carbonation which I don't mind but this does seem a tad flat.

Drinkability:
Jamiesons Beast is my usual go to drop so this is very tame for me, has a nice bitterness to it, would be good for a session/all day but at $27.50 for a sixpack of 4.8% IPA it's ridiculously overpriced and I know my merchant isn't one of the sheisters that puts an insane markup on his stock, despite my love of all things IPA and this being a limited batch this isn't going to be something I'll be in a hurry to buy again. Especially when I can get 7% Beast from the same store for over $5 cheaper. Sorry to say Bridgeroad dudes, I'm a fan of your work but in this instance I'm not really impressed, if you're going to release a limited edition IPA at this price make it an Imperial over 8%.

Pours orange/amber with a large fading head.
Aroma shows loads more fruity confectionery, with passionfruit, pineapple, lemon and lime lollys all represented. Alongside this is a pungent grassy note, presumably from late/dry-hopping. Some faint caramel is also present, but I think this could really benefit from more malt.
Some of those fruity aromas transfer through as flavours, but the malt dominates in this department (contradictory to what I just mentioned above??), with caramel, toffee and bready notes before a solid, but somewhat boring and dull bitterness follows.
Carbonation is light, body is moderate... pretty good!

This is amazing beer for the abv. Absolute hop bomb on the nose and palate that has made me realise that galaxy is a great hop. Citris with a bold hit of wild fruits, but this is a nice sharp hoppiness that isn't flabby. The taste of and IPA and the gravity of a pale ale, what a combo.

received today from user bluebetty. off my wants list too. taken too long to get to this. thanks!

light tan thin stable head. cloudy (probably been thrown around a bit the last few days) copper. medium carbonation.

nice flowery perfumy hop aroma with some light malt and spiciness.

bitterness is quite potent, which is great. not too much though as there is enough malt and hop flavour there to carry through the whole beer.

obvious why this beer is held in such high regard. right up there with the best aussie ales.

I like the idea and hope to see more of it. Nice piney, resiny, pineapple notes with a hint of fresh grass. And that, is Galaxy hops boys and girls. Solid bitterness and a nice pine-like tannic feel. It's ticking all the right boxes. Overall a solid beer and a great way of showcasing galaxy (or hops in general) for the uninitiated.

A: Pours a cloudy dark copper color with a good off-white head that fades slowly to nice lacing.

S: Aroma of grapefruit with a hint of pine, fresh grain and a bit of malt sweetness in the background.

T: Taste of grapefruit with a bit of pine. Light caramel sweetness with fresh grain. Good bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Medium body, crisp, clean and refreshing. Nicely balanced.

O: This beer hit the spot. well worth a try.

Pours a slightly orange-tinged gold with an unnecessary - but not unwelcome - cloudy haze. Head is white, tightly packed bubbles and retaining very well. Slow bead in the glass, nice lacing left behind. That's a cracker.

Oh, that's some passionfruit goodness. Lots of sweet and tangy fruit with passionfruit seeds and lovely cakey malt underlying. It's just fresh, fruity and delicious. A bit one-track but when that track is this beautiful it's not such an issue. Tangy, fruity, tasty.

Taste is pleasant. Lots of deep malt notes on the front and tangy passionfruit all over it. Fruity and seedy with a slight spicy flavour on there as well, kind of cinnamon-esque which is perhaps just a byproduct of the hop intensity. Finish starts early and a bit muted for an IPA, but in the sense that there's no hop wallop, it's just a hoppy bitter finish. Quite floral but with a strong citric element. Very acerbic at times and a decent IPA strength to it. Yeah, there's a slight dirtier, ashy bitterness late that just isn't as nice as the rest of the palate, but still a good tasty palate.

A bit sharp on the feel when the bitterness hits and otherwise a lot of carbonation sizzle. I've definitely found the Achilles' heel of this beer and it's in the texture.

Notwithstanding, a tasty beer with lots of good elements. If those rough edges could be pruned it would be a top drop.

Slightly Cloudy, orange/gold with 2 fingers of sticky white head.

Passionfruit, like passionfruit merange dominate the aroma. Smells like a bag of fresh galaxy hops.

Some sweet bready malts upfront, then a big resinous hop finish with reasonable bitterness.

Pretty good body, with ample carbonation.

All in a great, and very interesting IPA, could've bee a touch more bitter, but now im just being difficult

On-tap at the Local Taphouse in Sydney, right next to their Stella IPA. Both tasted on International IPA day. Although I've had this before, I've somehow never reviewed it.

Pours a deep golden colour, very hazy and refracting the light until it seems to glow on its own. Head is firm and full, like soft-beaten egg-whites. Lacing is intricate. Looks really good.

Nose is fresh and ripe, with sharp tropical fruits, but also a bit of raw green organics. A little passionfruit (less than I remember), and a bit of orange citrus. Nice.

Taste is clean and fresh and rather tasty, although the Galaxy lends a sweet character and surprisingly not a lot of raw alpha bitterness. Clean, crisp, sharp tropical characters, with a bit of melon ring and almost a touch of green pepper. Not bad. Feel is smooth, with just enough body to balance the hops.

Weirdly, this is more peppery, less fruity and less smooth than I remember. Sharper than the Stella, and possibly slightly less drinkable. I know this is their first, but I think I liked the Stella more.

Bottle from Purvis. From notes.

A - Poured cloudy dark gold. Good carbonation and a fluffy two finger head. Sticky rings of lace and a full finger of retention.

S - Lot's of tropical fruit and citrus. Sweetness as well. Really juicy.

T - Pineapple, passionfruit, grapefruit, a vinous element with sweetness up front as well.

M - Medium carbonation, medium body and nice bitterness.

O/D - Pretty nice. Galaxy is a cool hop and there is enough balance yet it really punches above it's weight. Good stuff.

A - Orangey-brown amber. Creamy white head. Drools of lacing.

S - Slap! All intense, fresh hop goodness. Pineapple, passionfruit, pine needle, sorbet. A very subtle malt sweetness.

T - Very hop dominant with the pineapple and passionfruit flavours and bitterness. Mild malt profile.

M - Moderate in body and carbonation level. Bitter finish.

O - This was much hoppier than I expected. Very tasty, very fruity, refreshing IPA.

Picked this up at my bottleshop today have heard of it but never tried until now,it pours a beautfiful cloudy orange/golden brown hue with nice carbonation that leaves a frothy two finger head and sticky lacing all around the rim and sides of the glass, the smell is sensational aswell with aromas of sweet piney, mango resinous hops and some pineapple aswell,it has a nice easy medium mouthfeel which is very sessionable with tastes of piney, citrus hops, pineapple,a dab of some caramel malts and it finishes quite nice and bitter which definately makes me go for another sip, overall i really rate this beer and ive never had a brew that i can remember that showcases the galaxy hop as much as this one and i just hope Bridge Road Brewers continue to do this sort of stuff as ill buy it everytime i see it if they do just so glad i went the six pack instead of only a couple.

Pours an amber-brown, one finger very coarse head.

Pine and hops on nose.

Taste is very thin, one dimensional, dry, and totally hop-driven. Reminds of grapefruit - but a dry segment. Gets quite puckering by the end. Needs some malt to balance out. Also, go figure, one hop will be a one-dimensional taste (!)

Mouthfeel is refreshing, one reviewer notes as sparkling mineral water - apt. Quite thin.

A dissapointment given its overall rating - I guess i just ain't a hop-head.

There’s a good little scene building in Victoria on the IPA front (Bridge Rd, Beast, Kooinda etc). This beer sits comfortably in that group although by no means a world beater. Immediately noticably is the very low carbonation, at least for the style. Marmalade orange in colour with a very thin head and slightly hazy in the body. Passionfruits on the nose; quite subtle but very classy. Palate is somewhat devoid of obvious fruit and malt but the very clean and linear hop profile makes up for this. Again not over powering but shows a sharp grassy hop note with nice aniseed and bitterness to finish.

A - Pours a hazy orange to amber with a few centimetres of white head that hangs around for a while and leaves some lacing.
S - Floral & tropical hop notes. Bit of light malt sweetness.
T - Floral & fruity hops also in taste with some piney notes. A bit of light malt sweetness.
M - Lighter side of medium bodied. Bitterness is there but not too assertive.
D - A nice beer indeed. Worth trying.

This review was based partly on a tap review and on a growler.

Thanks to MrKennedy for bringing this back from Warners for me!

Pours a mango syrup colour with nice head and lacing.

Smell is passionfruit, mango, Splice ice creams. Little bit of yeast. Malt is not very detectable. Rather pungent and nice.

A lot more of the classic Galaxy profile in the taste. Again tropical fruit, and also some nuttiness and pine. Tiny bit of malt.

Finishes really dry and a bit astringent. Like mineral water, including the high carb.

The style here, as with the Stella, is to go really light on the malt and really dry the beer out so as to emphasise the hops and bitterness. The hops are still pungent enough to work, though, and while the mouthfeel is astringent, it is not ashen like the Stella iteration. All hail Bridge Road as a rare quality Australian brewer.
