12 oz. bottle poured into pint glass.
A: Not bad at all, looks like your standard IPA. Golden, slightly hazy body with very nice two-finger foamy white head. Leaves medium lacing.
S: Smells of citrusy hops and a faint hint of malt.
T: Taste is a little weak, especially compared to the typical American IPA of today. Hops are there, but very subtle, more like a pale ale. It doesn't taste bad, don't get me wrong, but a bit more hops would make this thing great. Leaves a pleasant aftertaste, finishes very clean and soft. Hint of malt in the back.
M/D: Body is medium, right amount carbonation, no alcohol presence makes this one highly drinkable.

I've tried several Mad Anthony brews in the past, and they've been very hit or miss--quality control is a recurring theme among smaller Indiana brewers. Since these guys have recently expanded, though, their beers have been much more consistent, and the IPA is a stellar standout.
It's a great, balanced, late-90's style Midwestern IPA. Think Alpha King, or 2 Hearted, or even Masala Mama. It doesn't quite have the fruity hop peaks of the offerings from Bells and FFF, nor does it quite have the same majestic balance of Town Hall's flagship, but it's still an excellent iteration of the same style.
These days, with every goddamn thing getting aged in a barrel and neophyte beer geeks refusing to sip anything that doesn't leave lesions on their tongues, it's nice to return to a relatively simpler time, when Goose Island's IPA was considered a hop bomb. This is an excellent flagship, and I recommend you all give it a try.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
I didn't see this beer coming at one of my local haunts, but I wasn't gonna argue with a new beer. It pours a clear sunset bronze topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises spicy greens, light grapefruit rind, pine resin, and sweet caramel. The taste brings in more of the same, though with slightly stronger notes of grapefruit and pine. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sticky, drying finish. Overall, a pleasantly surprising IPA, one that came across quite hoppy without losing its sense of balance. Not bad at all.
