Stopped in with my wife & a couple friends on a late Saturday evening. First impressions I was honestly a bit caught off guard. I was expecting a cleaner/neater place than what it is. The decorations & overall layout in the place are honestly kinda tacky & looks dingy.
The server was nice but pretty short with everything, just lacking any personalty. She was pretty prompt with our orders & she stayed on top of things at the right time.
I can't recall all the beers we tasted in the sampler we got but all of them had just an odd off flavor to them. One of which, the Scotch ale I believe had a funky burnt taste. Actually had a burnt circuitry taste to it. (If you ever worked with burnt up electronics you'll know the taste you get from the smoke from it) The only beer that I did think was pretty good that I had a couple pints of was their chocolate stout.
The food was good but nothing exceptional. The burgers actually taste a lot like a burger from steak & shake just much thicker.
Over all it was a fun night out & somewhere new to try, but honestly I wouldn't go outta my way for it by any measure. I would possibly stop in again if in the area but would rather seek out other options first.

All in all this was a very disappointing place. Stopped by early on a Sunday while coming home from a road trip. Several items on the beer menu were not available (including all the IPAs) and there were no replacements. We split a fish and chips and the fish was soft and sticky. We couldn't tell if it was undercooked, too much grease, or some combination. The barrel aged Punkunhead was a nice treat but everything else was barely acceptable. Definitely not worth taking the time to drive off I-69 just to stop there.

One of my favorite local places. The beers are mostly solid, with a standout great beer every once and a while. The 2015 Anniversary Ale blew me away This year, they went from 8 or so taps up to 20, all house brews. The service is hit and miss, but the food is always on point. The beers are a little expensive for what they are, but overall I love this place and will keep coming back.

On a recent business trip, I thought that I would drop by for dinner. Located near an industrial area, the place has an authenticity and neighborhood feel that is comforting. Part workingmans bar, part college watering hole, and part pizza and sandwich shop, it is notably low key. Worn and comfortable. The food was forgettable...the beer, however, was solid. The IPA and porter were fresh, clean, and tasty. Prices are very reasonable, and the service was average.

There are so many craft beers available from nearby breweries that blow theirs away! Not impressed with any of their selections. Always the same selections. Nothing unique. Don't execute a menu that has too many choices. Unimpressed. The place needs a deep cleaning.

Stop #418 on my world brewery tour.

Sunday night near close. One bartender and a bit slow at first until the small crowd thinned a bit.

I did a flight of all beers which were good to very good. I recall the Mai Bock standing out as being very well done. I had the wings which were good but never spicy enough for my liking.

Would certainly stop back in next time I'm "in the Fort."

i go here a lot...I have the growler... I go for open mic night... etc.

this place has a great hippy pub feel.

the wait staff is amazing. these people do an incredible job, even when they are slammed

the beers are ... alright. I've had maybe 12 of their styles. none have ever been outstanding

they have 8 or more home made brews on tap. that's REALLY good for this town.

the food is fine. doesn't compare to granite city... not even in the same league as JK Odonells it's better than B'dubs or Applebees. the fried foods are hot and crispy, the burgers have plenty of meat, the pizzas have a nice crust (but take 35 minutes).

i keep coming back ... for the service and the atmosphere. and it's local. the food is always forgettable, but i'm never left hungry. the beers are always good and made on sight... my favorite of their beer is the winter Ale and the stout.

Mad Anthony was a place I went to growing up when I couldn't drink yet but it had good enough memories for me to want to go back a few times and it's a good experience. The beer is all better than average but not stellar, still pretty good overall. The real fun is the look from the time you come in from the street and see the big barrel over the door until you sit down. It's a pretty cool place overall. The food is pretty expensive but also tasty. The beer prices are good so it evens out. I prefer the pizzas but the sandwiches and everything else are good too. Service has never been bad. It'as not the fastest but it's always good.

Nice little home town brew pub restaurant. Price was reasonable and food was very good. I would return for the food, but some of the original brews were not too impressive. Service was on par, not outstanding, but good. I felt good about leaving a tip.

I would rate this between the one dollar sign and two. I missed out on octoberfest by one day. But my friend got the raspberry wheat which I tried and thought it was good, i have had the blueberry wheat and they were about the same. I got a cask conditioned ipa and thought it was fantastic. I also got a bourbon barrel aged stout. It was chocolately and was like sippin red stag(aged in red stag bourbon barrells) The beer selection there is ten times better than their bottles, if you visit fort wayne don't but the bottled stuff get a growler or a pint of something that's not bottled because that is the stuff that's good from these guys.

The food was great I had a pizza and it was somewhat expensive 15 bucks which me and the wife split, great pizza though. they have cheap sammies and everything inbetween.

Atmosphere, mad anthony decorates their bars like hippie joints, so if you're into that decor it's your style. the location for this place probably keeps it from being a big time thing in fort wayne. that takes away from the atmosphere for me.

Service was good and i felt i had a quality experience. will go back but it's only a matter of when as it's in a terrible location.

Stopped by a few weeks ago while on business in the area. I didn't expect much given the other BA reveiws of the place. Frankly, "not much" is what I got. The place needs a serious remodel, particularly in the cavernous bar area. It looked like a lackluster effort to give it some personality and a retro 60's era factory look with a few old signs here and there, but the tables and chairs shouted "70's Holiday Inn banquet room". Lifeless and baron is another way to describe it. Then again, so was the beer. Now granted I only sampled their Ruby Raspberry Wheat beer, but coupled with the atmosphere, it told me all I need to know about the brewing talent. Lifeless and thin. Neither raspberry nor wheat in the nose nor pallet. Disappointing. The barmaid, in between mildly combative comments with one of the waitresses about the ingredients in a drink, did provide efficient service. Regardless, I decided to go elsewhere for a decent meal and a few beers. This Indiana brewpub has a lot to learn about brewing and decore. I may still give them a try a few years down the road should I be forced to return to Fort Wayne on business (god help me).

I was visiting a friend in Ft. Wayne and we had both heard about this place, so we decided to give it a shot. The interior was pretty eclectic with writing on the ceiling and lots of trinkets hanging around. The service was alright, but they did seem pretty understaffed. The waitress serving was was personable and efficient though. The food was good, but nothing really blew me away. I had the Irish Stout, and again, that was average as well. Nothing really blew me away, but it is a fine place to go for some food and a beer.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, around 3pm. The place was pretty empty. We sat in the bar area but chose to sit at a table instead of the bar, hoping for some decent service. Well, we were wrong.

As mentioned, nobody was there so the atmosphere was pretty dead. I could see it getting a little rowdy here on the weekends, but our visit proved nothing.

The beer was hit or miss. The pale ale was actally very good. Also had a Replicale, which was an ale designed after pre prohibition recipes. It tasted like a mild brown ale and was decent. The Auburn lager was absolutely nasty. Something must have went bad with the batch because it tasted like dirty diapers and sour apples. Yuck!

Service was non existent. In order to get a beer or drink refills, we had to walk up to the bar and have the bartender refill our beers and drinks, rather than our server.

They had about 10 beers on tap which is a pretty good selection, but the beers were inconsistent.

I chose a seared tuna salad that was pretty good. Asked for the tuna raw and it came out medium well: it still tasted okay, just a little dry. The sesame dressing was good. The hummus was very good. Warm pita and red pepper hummus went very nicely with the pale ale.

I would probably go back because it is the only place to get local beer. I will keep my fingers crossed that the beers will be good and consistent.

I was in Columbia city yesterday and made my first trip to Mad Anthony's. I got there at 2 p.m. and there were only 2 customers inside. 3 tv's were playing sportsceter and Maury. They had about 10 taps. I sat at the bar and asked the bartender (she was very nice) for a sample of their spring fling (free samples). Loved it so I ordered a pint. Some nice malts with a german hop background. An easy but flavorful drinker. Next up was a pint of their pale ale which was very good. I asked the bartender about kegs and she said that they are 105 for 1/2 and 55 for 1/4 and $75 for a deposit. The only downside is that they use the hoff-stevens kegs which require a twin probe coupler. They do have party pumps but I wanted a keg for my kegerator, guess I'll just have to get a new coupler.

I ended up getting a growler of spring fling. $4 for the jug and $7 for the fill. The pints were only $3.50 each. The only problem I have with this place is that it is over an hours drive from my house.

Ah yes, Ft Waynes one and only brewpub.

Mad Anthony Brewing is a real hit or miss place. They recently added full bar service, which was a bad move IMO. The beers range from quite good for some of the seasonals, to quite average. The Auburn is a drinkable enough staple beer, certainly beats the BMC selections found in most of this town. Every now and then ( usually around Christmas ) they break out some cellared beers like their Imperial Stout and Imperial IPA. Locals dont want to miss these as they are easily the finest selections you will get at MABC. You have to ask your waiter about them, as they are never on the menu.

The food is slghtly above average bar food, with some recent seafood additions.

Finally, keep in mind That the Muchie Emporium locations on Maplecrest and Dupont are affiliated with the main location in name only, the Maplecrest location does not even carry Mad Anthony beers. The Maplecrest location does however always have Bells Two Hearted on tap making it the location of choice for me.

Mad Anthony Brewing Company has gained quite a decent amount of acclaim for its small-town status, but be warned - you aren't dealing with a Three Floyds or Bell's here. Their beers are mediocre at best - they will occasionally hit upon a good beer but something about the quality of the ingredients is strongly lacking.

MABC is the off-shoot of a popular chain of restaurants in Fort Wayne called Munchie Emporium. The interior is very Haight-Ashbury meets T.G.I.Fridays. Think lots of counter-culture imagery mixed in with LOTS of old signs and stop-lights. Some cubby-holed tables are nice and opium-den/pub like, but others are annoyingly close to the kitchen.

They do great vegetarian-centered cuisine, but watch out - i've gotten food poisoning more than once from their "world famous" pizzas. More often than not I find myself stumped about what to get, and I have been majorly disappointed. Stick with their classic pub-cuisine, it'll be decent at least.

As stated before, their beer is of decent quality. They don't really cater to the huge beer crowd, so you won't be shocked by anything outrageously good. They occasionally do a very good winter ale and barleywine. The actual brewery is an eye-sore, a garage at the back of the property. I met some employees and was dishearted to find out that they use tap water - Fort Wayne is notorious for poor quality water.

Also, don't even attempt to order anything other than their house beers or you'll get bugged until you submit. I really hate this about the place. They claim that their SNPA clone is better than the original - pfft.

Nice interior, decent food, mediocre to average beer.

Great atmosphere for the area. But clearly nothing to seek out.

We visited this brewery as we cut across Indiana from Chicago on our way to the Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. The first thing we noticed when pulling into the parking lot was the smell of the wort from a new batch being readied. The smell seemed to blanket the whole neighborhood and to some it may have seemed overwhelming. But not to us. It was an appropriate greeting after a 150 mile drive from Chicago. We tried a sampler and enjoyed each beer. The bartender looked like a offensive tackle for an NFL team. In fact, he looked bigger. I later heard he was competing in the World's Strongest Man contest. He was very cool (thank God). The place has a nice friendly atmosphere and brews good beer. Fort Wayne has a nice brewpub in Mad Anthony.

Pretty neat atmosphere in downtown Fort Wayne. Nice non-smoking section and defintely kid friendly before 9:00 PM. Big open bar with small tables and booths all around the windows. Menu was nice, food was average to above average and prices were very good. Full of cool old antiques, signs, etc. worth taking a look around.
Service was attentive and helpful, didn't know alot about the beer though.
Decent selection of beers served at appropriate temperatures for the most part.
Not really worth going out of the way for but if you're in Ft. Wayne I'm sure it stands out.

The atmosphere is something like a college bar, thought there really isn't a college close by. The night I went wasn't very busy, but there was a lively mix of educated beer drinkers.

The quality of the beer was impressive. The black lager was flavorful, but not overpowering and the raspberry wheat was tasty, if a bit sweet. Both are worth trying.

The service was quick and friendly, but there weren't many customers.

The selection of about 12 in-house brews and a variety of imports was enough to give everybody something they'll like.

I had the potato skins, they were pretty good, not too greasy with just chedder and bacon, no extra foo-foo stuff like white cheese or salsa. The only sour cream is a sour cream-ranch dressing mix, that seemed odd at first, but turned out to be very tasty.

All in all, it's a nice place populated by people who pepper their conversations with words like "growler," "carboy" and "stein." A place where any BA would feel at home.
