Stopped into the store after I ate at the restaurant on a visit. This is a small beer store (in the opinion of a guy that has Grape and Gourmet Va Beach in his commuting area). Good selection of local beers and Louisiana beers (Bayou atmosphere). Best feature...."make your own six pack".

The local and LA 12 oz beers are in a row of refrigerators with more of the same on shelves facing the refrigerators. The bombers and higher octane beers, like the Belgians are in another cooler.

The woman running the store was very friendly and helpful. She knew her stock. When I put a Hickory Stick Stout on the counter, she let me know the brewer for Old Hickory is from that town (Banner Elk) and drops in when he is in the area.

THe beers were reasonably priced, the layout is nice and the service is excellent.

This is my closest beer store. As others have stated it is connected to one of the two main bars in town, although it does close before the bar and restaurant. Many exceptional features of this store encourage people to shop outside of the grocery store. They have a mix and match six pack cooler which usually has many craft beers from North Carolina and Louisiana. Also, if you find yourself in the area for awhile and don't find your brew, they will order it for you if they can get it, cause they are cool like that.

another stop made while doing a touristy weekend thing in the beautiful NC mountains. we actually stopped here for lunch, the store is part of a bbq/smokehouse which has excellent and cheap food btw. a small, countystore atmosphere with plenty of local goods, mountain honey, hand-made mustards, local and gourmet cheeses, and more. the beer selection took me by surprise, quite a good representation of local and national brand microbrews from sierra nevada, avery, abita, terrapin, cottonwood, highland, and assorted belgian and international brews. prices are fair and the staff is friendly. a cool place to stop if you are out exploring and shopping.

An interesting little store located in Banner Elk, close to the competing ski resorts of Sugar and Beech, and home to an area with an increasing amount of tourism. The store sells beer, wine, cheeses, coffees and a wide variety of hot sauces and marinades. While the beer selection is not incredibly vast, it is solid. Besides the typical macros they also carry various beers from Sierra Nevada, Flying Dog, Avery, Great Divide and Abita. They also carry NC brews from Highland, Carolina Brewing and Cottonwood. A few Belgians were also noted, although the only Trappists I saw were the Chimay varieties. Customer service was excellent. The lady who helped me, who also was the owner of the store, gave me an incredible deal on a case of SN Bigfoot. 40 bucks for the case, tax included! I left the store a very happy camper. There are stores with a much larger selection, but you'd have to drive 20-30 minutes. So if you're staying in the Banner Elk area, give this place a try. As a side note, there is also a pub/restaurant adjacent to the store which is also owned by the same folks.

This place is actually conected to the Bayou Smokehouse but is a seperate shop. The seletion here was pretty decent for the area. They have all the same beers available in the resturant. Abita and Shiner are here due to the roots of the owners. Many locals such as Highland and others. I also saw Otter Creek beers which used to be difficult to find in this part of NC. The lady working offered assistance if I needed any. There were coolers along two walls and some warm stock along with a wine selection and other goodies such as pint glasses. I may stop back in here sometime if in the area. Thumbs up.

All right so I was walking around Banner Elk with my girlfriend after white water rafting and I turn a corner and see the place. Figuring we are in the mountains and they can't possibly have anything decent I walk in and find a small wine and beer store. One side has coolers that weren't operational (didn't ask if they planned them to be) and on the adjacent wall I found the beer cooler. Everything was available in singles or six packs and they had warm stock too. The prices were very reasonable for singles and they had a pretty good selection. They had some good regional NC beers along with a few of my favorite sweetwater and terrapin beers along with some larger named craft brewers. I didn’t really need help but the girl behind the counter was very pleasant.

When in the area again I will definitely stop by!
