Savoured at the establishment, arrived with little to no head, and don't really like the glasswear, but the lacing is pretty good. Otherwise, a great looking beer, dark reddish amber, almost a reddish brown.

~Can't really smell much other than the malts and maybe vanilla. Also a dark fruity aroma is present.

~This is a great beer. A very unique rice taste that I don't finid with many others, and malts are very present, not overly so, but very appropriate amount. I've had this beer quite a few times, and its a little more subtle than I remember, and thats no bad thing, though I like it more expressive. While I couldn't see any action, it was still live to the tongue, and comes off as a little nutty, perpahs due to the rice. My buddy says its brewed with rice. I think he's lying, don't think it tastes so much so. If it is, good job. Besides the malts and rice taste, I can pick up faint hop touches.

~Overall, this is a fantastic beer to enjoy alone, in a growler, at the pub with friends, with food.... really, any time. Its just a great beer to enjoy, whatever the occasion.

Can at The Sheridan Room, Minneapolis, MN

A: The beer is brown when viewed from afar; when held up to a bright light it is clear dark reddish brown in color. It poured with a short white head.
S: Light aromas of dark malt extracts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a slight amount of sweetness.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't that bad for a rice lager but isn't something that I could drink a whole lot of.

Wild Brunette pours an opaque brown color, with a bubbly head. Light aroma, hints of sweet and earth. Flavor is rich, with a nice malty backbone with a small bite, and a very nice dry finish. Good body and finish. Overall, a top notch brown ale, big creamy flavors, with a good dry finish.

pretty darn close to my favorite beer i had when i visited this rad little brewery. they do a great job with a lot of styles, but this is one of the more inventive beers that was on while i was there. its a strong brown ale, sort fo english in nature, but brewed with rice, which is where the wild aspect comes from, wild rice, this is not a wild beer in the yeast sense at all, this was definitely invented and up and running before wild ale was popularized in the united states, this is probably increasingly problematic for folks coming in here. the beer is great, the rice adds a cool nutty flavor to this that is perfect with the chocolate malts and the even darker roasted aspect, while it adds a neat starchy richness to the body that is unique in the style. its tame though, and still well within style boundaries in terms of the overall and experience, and not so weird as to only appeal on an esoteric beer audience. smooth and fuller bodied, awesome malt layers, and that distinct nutty rice thing all the way through. great recipe, great execution, one of the best i had in here! its been awhile since ive had an inventive brown ale. this hit the spot!

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber. Moderate amount of bubbles and about a finger of beige head that settles into a thin creamy patch.

Smell: A toasty and earthy malt forward aroma with a scent of biscuit, nuts, and rice. Barely malt scent of biscuit, toast, nuts, toffee, and caramel with some wild rice and yeast. Sweet hints of brown sugar and vanilla. Also some hints of earthy hops. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a toasty and earthy malt driven taste with notes of biscuit, nuts, and rice. Bready barley malt notes of biscuit, toast, grains, nuts, toffee, caramel, and wild rice along with yeast. Some sweet notes of brown sugar and vanilla. Some earthy hop bitterness towards the finish. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and pretty smooth.

Overall: A pretty good Brown Ale. The wild rice adds a nice earthy kick.

Dark ruby color, lightly carbonated. 1/2 inch or slightly less of a tan head that recedes quickly to a thin cover and collar. Slightly sweet but faint aroma. Nice caramel, slightly sweet taste at the start, smooth, creamy mouth feel, with a slight bitterness begins in the middle and continues into the finish and aftertaste, but less bittering than the IBU rating would have you expect. Despite this beer not having a big aroma, or a WOW character, it is a very good brown ale with just enough complexity for the style; I like this beer. It is pleasant, easy drinking, and has a very nice flavor. (caveat: I prefer English-style ales). The ABV is a bit high for an evening of drinking 3 or 4, but the feel and taste of this one will tempt you to do so anyway. Just drink it at home or have a driver. I'll be buying this one from time to time for sure.
