Review for 'Cherry' Batch 2013; corked & caged bottle numbered 122/600, sent to me by an awesome BA from MN. Cheers bud!
Oversized wine glass shows off a murky golden-red body, tons of head from the hard pour seems to stick around awhile, and leaves a little lace.
Subtle cherry, berry-fruit puree, baking spices (nutmeg, allspice), apple cobbler and cherry pie dessert flavors, brown sugar and graham cracker, malt sweetness.
Lighter body, clingy, light tartness (was expecting more here), moderate sugary sweetness (manifests as brown sugar and graham cracker). From the pour, the carbonation looked like it was going to be high, but its just right for a fruit beer, properly medium or so.
Overall I'd say this is a good beer. Kind of surprised by the malty backbone/residual sweetness of this one; I had wrongly assumed this was going to be a sour/tart brew, but this beer is definitely not trying for that. It has clear notes of cherry pie and other baked desserts, and becomes even more decadent with warmth.
