Poured a clear, golden yellow color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of pine, grapefruit and toasted caramel. Big piney bitterness, sweet orange and grapefruit. Toasted caramel backbone.

On tap at the Fitger's Brew Pub
Look: The beer is a clear gold, with a thick off white head. Very appealing, and disguises how flavorful this beer is.
Smell: Tropical fruits dominatrix. Passion fruit, citrus, and other unidentifiable fruit.
Taste: Passion fruit is up front, with some orange, said tropical fruits, and a slight grapefruit finish of the palate.
Feel: A nice medium, more medium plus body. The beer ends quite dry, and bitter, but good.
Overall: A great effort from Fitgers, and a tasty IPA.

This is a 5.0 IPA better than any I have had which is saying something as I have tasted more than a few.
Here is the review from their website:
This IPA features three rare hops that all provide great aromas and flavors. With a clean finish, this IPA will throw aromas of blueberry, peach, grapefruit, and grapes. The malt is slighty bready and very crisp. We searched high and low for these hops and are proud to share them with you. HOPPELUJAH!
My thoughts: Doesn't get any better than this. Hugely tropical with not only pineapple, mango and papaya, but a subtle little coconut rum like note.....also getting peaches and blueberries as described above....not so much the grapefruit....some dark grapes for sure though...love the bready malt backbone as they described....not sure I would say very crisp or dry at all but clean...
Outstanding. I just did a taster blind of this and Todd the Axeman and this was better. A fair battle as both are higher ABV beers billed as regular IPA's (which is where I would place both as well...) Both are great....talking 5.0 versus 4.9 but this is better in my opinion. I missed getting it by a day the last time I was in Duluth. This time I got lucky and hit it.

Perfect pour at the brewery. 1 finger white fluffy, slightly creamy head that won't go away. Nice lacing. Sticky! Beautiful burnt orange-gold hue with a touch of hop haze. BIG tropical fruit on the nose - pineapple, mango, a bit of sweet orange peel and a touch of lemon sit on top of a "vermonty" yeast aroma and a perfect delicate body of malty goodness. Taste: oh my sweet loving god. This may be the perfect blend of "new school" and "old school" ipa. A strong bold citrusy, spicy bitterness leads the way with juicy sticky mandarin, pineapple, and other tropical notes following through. Perfect body, perfect carbonation. Malt body supports, yet stays out of the way, and the yeast (it's gotta be an "east coast" strain...) adds a beautiful creamy complexity. This is an amazing IPA. Highly recommended.
