Stopped in here after dinner at Penguin Pizza on Saturday night. Thought I'd check out the selection. Small beer selection in the back. Two coolers and one shelf worth of choices. They have a random selection available. Some beers from Cali like Stone bombers and Bear Republic six packs, and some local stuff like Brooklyn etc. Random mix of Belgian and English beers. Walked out with a bomber of Stone Smoked Porter, and bottles of Guinness Extra Stout and Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout for $12 total. Guys behind the counter were friendly enough, joking a bit and making small talk. Doesn't happen often on a Sat night in a liquor store. Dara's is not a place to make a pilgrimage to, but if you happened to find yourself in the Mission Hill area, you can find something decent to drink here.

I made Dara's my last stop for searching out beers in Boston based on the reviews given here, but I was disappointed. It is close to the Mission Grill and Penguin Pizza, which is nice, but the selection was not that good. I did buy one bottle of Otter Creek seasonal, but I can get that anywhere on the east coast. And although I will agree that they're friendly, and mostly everything is stickered with a price, my bottle was not. I was shocked to find that the Otter Creek was $10!!! After close to five minutes (I timed it), they came up with a price of $4 (which was much nicer). And the girl did say that she wanted to make sure that I wasn't over-charged. Still, the selection wasn't that good. I grabbed an interesting Belgian from a store just a few doors down and was happier to find that. So... ... worth a shot, but not the beer mecca it's been made out to be on BA.

Dara's is my absolute favorite place to buy good beer, cheap wine, or 30s. Sure, the selection isn't as big as ODB -- but at least the prices are marked on their bombers (unlike ODB).
The guys who work at Dara's are the best! They know who you are and acknowledge your active patronage. In addition, there is taste testing from time to time which is money.
The selection is pretty good - typical Sams, Magic Hat, Harpoon, Brooklyn, Dog Fish Head, Left Hand, BBC, Stone, Rogue, and other domestic brews. Their bombers are great as well.

Right on Huntington Avenue near the hospital complex. Great selection of Berkshire Brewing Company beers. Some German selections. Overall, looks like it tends more to the 40 oz crowd than anything. The beer section is in the back and seems like it consists of several refridgerator cases with beer. A few stacks of macro-slew are in the area as well. However, seems like the place you can just pop in and grab something if you are in the area and need something. The service is very friendly. Great people. Park in the stop n shop and avoid street parking.
