Poured into glass. This beer is crystal clear with nice golden amber color with decent head that fades and then laces the glass. The smell is of floral hops and citrus. The combination gives a fruity taste with a nice malty backbone. Ends in a subtle bitterness. Not an extreme bitterness tho. This is a nice beer and it has that floral hop taste that I always look for in a beer and this one has the best floral taste ive ever had. I dont know why it doesnt have a higher rating. This is a good beer

bottle to cup
pours a golden hue, white head to nice lacing
smells of nice bready malt, floral hops, sweet and bready
tastes of a nice floral, grassy hop blend. sweet but not syrupy malt balance. biscuity and caramel, hops balance out nicely. lower to medium carbonation.
mouthfeel is a good weight, thickish but right on balance, bitter and sweet, nom

reminds me of an apa more than an ipa, but probably because i'm used to a hop heavy beers - really nice and approachable for everyone

bottled aug 2011

pours copper gold with a off white head that faded to a film and left some spotted lacing

smell is very faint but what i did pick up on is malt

taste is much better then the nose - still the beer gets most of its flavor from the malt - the hops are still there but they are more for giving the beer a good amount of bitterness

mouthfeel - good medium body with ample carbonation crisp yet smooth and creamy

overall - doubt i would buy this again but i still look forward to trying more beers from upland

A - a golden copper color with a very thin white head. Decent retention.

S - smells of fresh hops and a nice grassy scent. Faint sweet malts at the end.

T - taste is lightly bittered and remains hoppy throughout the after taste.

M - light to medium bodied with light carbonation.

O - ok but just too light on the hops.

A: Dark amber color with about a half inch head. Head faded pretty quickly....well before I had my first drink.

S: Nothing extraordinary about the smell of this one. Malty.

T: I've had this beer a lot on tap, so the taste is very familiar to me. My local watering hole has this on tap and I live in Indiana, so I usually opt for this if is not martini night. Some hops, but not too overpowering. Decent enough taste but nothing spectacular.

M: Low to Medium carbonation.

O: Overall not a terrible beer, but certainly not my favorite. It beats the Miller Lite my buddies drink at our neighborhood bar and its a local beer, but nothing really outstanding on this one. Too bad....

Double Dragonfly is surprisingly good. This one--not so much.

Pours like a regular ol' IPA. Smells like a very malty IPA. Big, biscuity nodes of malt starts things off and are balanced just a little bit by some solid-smelling west coast hops. So it's like an English malt profile with some American hops? That could easily work...

But it don't. Everything is too earthen, and it's way unbalanced towards the malt side of things. Still, a lack of balance is usually plenty tolerable (deserving of at least a 3.0). The trouble here is that there's a weird end notes and aftertastes of spoiled fruit and sour grain. I've had it from the bottle a couple of times and each time figured it was stale, but this was fresh from the keg.

Poured into tulip glass...

A- Deep copper orange color. Very large yellowish white head. Great lacing and stability.

S- Fruity and bubblegumy. Grapefruit aroma is the strongest, but closely followed by large malt presence.

T/M- Mediocre. Bitterness is very low, too low. Not much hop flavor. No fruit like the nose shows; instead its, more earthy than anything. Sweet caramel and bready malts are far too prominent than they should be in an IPA. Nice medium level of carbonation, and a very average/pleasant mouthfeel.

O- Not that great. I think this is past its prime, but I got this at an A rated, highly trafficked store. Needs more hop character all around. I feel it had potential, but came up short. Just too malt forward.

Appearance - This beer was gorgeous altho strangely dark brown in color. Other than that, the liquid was clear and the head lasted forever leaving a thick film along the inside of my pint glass.

Smell- I get some nice pine hopping up front, don't understand what all of these "no hops" reviews are talking about, but there is also a huge malt base here that does kind of take over the nose.

Taste - The malts definitely take over at the taste but I'm still getting some good pine and hop bittering with a smudge of orange. I would have liked to have seen a little sweetness from the malt but otherwise this has a very pleasing flavor profile.

Mouthfeel - This is a solid medium-bodied with strong bitterness from beginning to end.

Drinkability - This is not a typical example of the an AIPA as others have noted but IMO within range of the style with quality ingredients and high quaff ability quotient.

Bottle brought back from Indiana by my girlfriend.

12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Pours a reddish/gold color with a finger of quickly disipating rocky white head. No lacing.

Aroma has a hint of grapefruit and floral hops, but is surprisingly malty. Really malty. As in, the hops are completely overpowered by the sweet caramel and buttery malts. This smells more like an underhopped English pale than an American IPA.

Flavor is still overwhelmingly sweet, with toffee and biscuity malts dominating.

Low carbonation and a medium body.

This is a terribly unbalanced beer, and unlike most IPAs it is ridiculously in favor of the malty side. Almost sickeningly sweet. Stay away.
