750ml bottle from 2008.

Pours clear pinkish purple with a short-lived head of pink. Plums with a hint of blackberries in the nose. Light bodied with a crisp, sharp mouthfeel. Tart berries on the palate and a bit jammy. Finishes tannic and dry.

6 oz mini-snifter draft pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours deep purple with a small head. Aroma and flavor feature light blackberry, moderate sourness, some funk, oak barrel tannins, and a light malt/wheat base. Definitely light on the berry flavor, otherwise my rating might be half a point higher. Mouthfeel is light, nicely carbonated, and on the drier side. Overall it's tasty but more fruit would kick it up a notch or two.

Bottle from Jeff, thanks for the hookup.
Pours a dark amber color with a hint of purple and a stinky off white head that dissipates instantly. Huge lactic tart in the nose and flavor faint berry and light earthy funkiness. Held up pretty well.

Had this at the Reno Invitational Beerfest. Was surprised Upland sent stuff. Cool. Pours that mixture of color in between pink and purple with a lighter pink head in the 1/5" range. Aroma hits the blackberry spot, a little bit of dry oak and plenty of sourness in the smells.

Taste drops a good 7.5 pt sourness on the 10pt scale, the blackberry aspect is well done, seems like they were pulled right off the vine in Oregon or whatnot. I like the drying effect the oak has on the mouth feel, there is a nice contribution there, gives a little more depth and wine like feel to it despite there being no grapes used. Carbonation well done. Relatively light body, some wheat? The sourness isn't as one note as some might say, thought it was good. A little bit acidic, but enjoyable through and through. Solid stuff.

Price is up there, but not terrible. These are like $20 a bottle right?

A: Lots of blackberries, light lemon and moderate sourness.

A: Red-pink color, almost opaque, with a moderate dense, white head with adequate retention.

T: Super jammy blackberries give way to light lemon and oak with a moderate lingering sourness through the finish and a semi-dry finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Tasty; the beer has a solid jammy blackberry presence and the beer's sourness seems to be dialed back some compared to years past.

Appearance: Pours clear and the color of blackberry juice; the head builds up to a finger and sticks reasonably well; splashy lacing

Smell: Tart blackberry tones with an acetic character along with oak

Taste: Strong, acetic vinegar tones dominate, with hints of blackberry flavor peaking through; funky, but mostly sour, through the middle with a dry, oaky finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation; very puckery

Overall: Upland makes the most acetic sours I have tasted and this one is right up there, though not as sour as some of the others they have made
