A-Cloudy reddish pink, not much carbonation or head.

S-Strawberries, oak, grass, some tart notes.

T-Starts with lots of strawberries, perfect balance for them. Nice oak and grass. Lastly a mild sour/tart note.

M-Medium to light and not much carbonation.

O-Just a tad bit more tart/sour notes would have greatly improved the beer. The strawberries where great but it did have the sour punch to round everything out.

750ml of the recent 2013 release of Strawberry, generously opened up by Brian to finish off our night. Poured into a snifter today, 1/24/2014.

App- Pours similar to Sour Reserve- hazy yellow-orange body, with flecks of strawberry pureé on the glass. This was the third initial pour so there is a good bit of cloudy sediment. Not much lacing, Ok retention with a less than 1 finger white head.

Smell- Fresh strawberries mixed in with a good bit of acidity. Not faint but not overwhelming. Really delicious nose, acidity does not overwhelm the delicate strawberry. A little Upland funk (i.e. quite restrained).

Flavour- Strawberries, a little bit of oak, cheesiness. Starts out with a nice fresh strawberry flavour that becomes tart, transitioning into a full on sour. 6/10 acidity. A nice enjoyable transition of flavours that is actually quite juicy, but overall not the most complex.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied, well carbonated, a bit thicker than most lambics but not overly so, nice dryness on the backend with some strawberry fruit lingering.

Overall- Very nice fruit lambic; being the first I've tried from them it's quite delicious and I'd love to try more of Upland's lambics.

Opens with a bang. Delayed foam over about 3 seconds after de-corking.

A- Pours completely hazy and mild orange to peach in color. An initially large head calms down and forms a thin layer of lace on the top of the beer. No lacing.

S- Holy sour. Big, somewhat fruity, acidic sour scents here. Just a bit of strawberry profile. Pretty sour all the way through with some yeast at the very end.

T- Tart, sour, juicy, and fruity all in one beer. Starts very sour, more like a gueuze with the level of sour. Moves toward a tart strawberry flavor before the full juiciness of the berries kicks in. Really displays the fruit at the end and after the drink finishes. Feels and tastes like pure strawberry juice on the tongue after the drink ends.

M- Just like a lambic should be; highly carbonated, somewhat heavy with the larger grain bill, and easy to drink except for the level of sour. I could drink this all night, even with the intense fruity sourness.

Overall, a somewhat unusual fruit for a lambic, but it works. Frankly, the natural sour qualities of the strawberry make its flavor somewhat difficult to pick out of the lambic, but once you do, it's delicious!
