A - Beautiful cloudy rose brew, with a white head tinted with pink which vanishes almost immediately.

S - Strong funk elements of grass, hay, barnyard and wet rind cheese, with a sour core, and only a slight fruity hint.

T - Smart sharp hit, fruit comes in first, but I cannot really identify any clear strawberry flavor. This is followed with a rapid stab of acid, that washes over any hint of sweetness. Funk in the close comes across as grass and decay, but it is still secondary to the aggressive acidic sourness.

M - Strong carbonation goes a long way to lift the roughest elements away and keep the tongue clean.

O - This is my first Upland sour. I am not wholly won over by this one. The funk and the sour eclipse the fruit, leaving the namesake strawberry to play a secondary role. If the balance of the fruit and funk were reversed, and the fruit played top bill while the funk was underlying with highlights, this would be a world-class brew, but as it is I'm not sure I'd seek this one out again.

Bottle pour at the pre-FWIBF bottle share held at the Adelaide Inn in Paso Robles, CA.

Bottled 11/12/13.

Pours a murky reddish-orange with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is sour with malt, strawberry, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with super sour malt, strawberry, and acidic flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a great strawberry aroma and super sour flavors.

Review from notes; ashamed to say I can't remember exactly when I had this, but thanks to whoever shared it!

A: Cloudy pale orange body with a cap of fine off-white foam. Light lace. Ok.

S: Lactic tartness, citric acidity, grassy funk, and just a hint of strawberry. Nice, but not as fruity as I was expecting.

T: Juicy, fruity sweetness up front, with pineapple and strawberry giving way to sharp citrus sourness. Lingering lactic burn. Pretty good.

M: Soft medium body, almost no carbonation. Not great.

O: Enjoyable, but probably the least impressive of the Upland sours I've had.

Cheers!
