Bottle poured into snifter. I acquired this poor orphaned bottle after a lucky lottery winner did not claim their winnings.
A: Bright golden with a slight copper hue. Very attractive looking beer. Pours with very little head that does not last.
S: Sour and fruity. A huge blast of sour that hits up front and does not let go.
T: Very sour, with a delicate balance of kiwi that compliments nicely. Anyone who is a sour/lambic fan will truly appreciate the flavor that this offers.
M: Need I say again, sour? For no head, this is carbed very well. This style for me leaves a strange yet satisfying dry aftertaste that keeps me craving more.
O: Another great offering by Upland outside of their everyday beer. This ranks just shy of their Malefactor (Gilgamesh) in my books. It's balanced very well, with a strong sour presence yet plenty of other fruity characters to compliment nicely.

The rare batch 1 bottle somehow acquired by spycow and shared with CCR.
A - Golden brown color that looked pretty flat, no real head and only minimal carbonation.
S - Slight amount of funk and some tartness, the kiwi is actually pretty easy to distinguish and has the acidity you would expect from a ripened kiwi. Actually smells pretty nice if you are looking for a Kiwi beer.
T - Tastes like kiwi, or even sour strawberries a little bit. Because of it's natural acidity and sourness when ripe, some of the less sweet kiwis are a really good choice to make a lambic out of. Pretty good stuff.
M - Fairly low carbonation, although that wasn't surprising, medium bodied.
O - Nice beer, not one of the best, but it's good and delivers on what you think it should be. Gets a bump up in overall because kiwi itself is a unique beer to make and they did a good job. Expecting even better as they continue to make these.

From 08/26/10 notes. Got to try batch 1 and batch 2 side by side thanks to Brad; thanks man!
a - Pours a murky golden orange color with 2 fingers of head.
s - Smells of sour kiwi, other tropical fruits, and oak. Some definite brett/funk in the nose.
t - Tastes of sour fruit, funk, brett, oak, and tart kiwi.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation.
d - A very enjoyable sour from Upland. I think I liked Batch 1 better, and thought the smell of Batch 2 was a bit funkier. Would like to try again sometime.
