Very nice, rich well-crafted high ABV beer.

Taste: big bready, banana, spiced, fruit with a boozy kick. Same with the nose. Light gold, clear as crystal, with delicate lace. Medium body, appetizers would pair well with. 35 IBUs

Even their Tripel is super bitter. Disappointed. I went in to this excited, as I love Tripels. Bought a six pack in bottles. Nothing exceptional. Didn't even remind of a Tripel. No yeasty goodness...Did someone pour an IPA in this? Maybe they mislabled the bottles? :(

Just a very "meh" beer. It wasn't terrible, but was not very good either. It was very plain jane. Poured a nice clean golden color with a small white head. Almost looked like a pilsner. Overall the taste was just very lacking and didn't have a lot of character.

Brief review below on account of a less-than-ideal review environment:

BOTTLE: Branded pry-off crown cap. Okay label art. Brown glass. 12 fl oz. Cost was $3.39 @ at a bottle shop in Indiana.

Served cold into a tulip and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Reviewed live as a Belgian tripel per the label.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: About 2.5cm wide. White colour. Standard frothiness and creaminess. Typical complexion and consistency. Leaves no lacing as it recedes. Retention is average - about 2 minutes.

BODY: Clear pale copper of average vibrance. No yeast particulate is visible.

Appears well-carbonated. Decent look for a tripel, but not unique or special.

AROMA: Belgian pale malts. A hint of lemon.

No yeast character, overt hops, or off-notes are detectable.

Aromatic intensity is average.

TASTE: Belgian pale malts, grassy hops, lemon notes.

Very simple and shallow. There's little to say about it, but unlike many tripels, it isn't boozy or hot.

Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, overcarbonated, unrefreshing.

Doesn't harmonize with the taste. Fails to elevate the beer as a whole.

OVERALL: Not a gestalt build, nor a balanced beer. It's decently executed for what it is, but like many of Upland's shelf offerings, it fails to measure up to the quality of their sours. It's fine, but forgettable.

November 14 bottling date.

Aroma is musty, with confectioners sugar sweetness, apricots, and clove rounding out the profile. Notes of green apple emerge. A bit muted for the style.

Flavor reveals green apple and big, lightly bitter pear skin throughout. There's a confectioners sugar sweetness at the finish, but the prevalent alcohol accentuates the overly bitter tone. Clove becomes more prevalent as it warms.

Seems lackluster in ester profile, almost watered down, and overly bitter.
