Got a growler of this at the brewery a while back.

A - Nice rich golden color. Medium white head with fine bubbles. Quite clear for a Belgian beer.

S - Lots of the typical Belgian yeast spice character (phenolic) predominant. Just underneath that is a nice maltiness and alcohol. No hops to be found.

T - Very similar to the smell the Belgian character holds true but isn't the only player with lots of malt and a strong booziness. It's pretty complex beer but it is hard to get over the amount of alcohol that the beer puts underneath the Belgian yeast. It is mostly crisp with a malt character and some alcohol but no bitterness.

M - Medium mouth-feel. Moderate carbonation. A pretty drinkable beer with a lighter body for such a high alcohol beer and no bitterness

Overall, a pretty good beer. Though it isn't as smooth or complex as Chimay Tripel I did enjoy it. The heat from the alcohol and Belgian spice tends to subside and after two pints of this hefty beer you don't even have any problems in the world (except if you have to drive home!) If you haven't tried this I would recommend it but I don't expect you to enjoy it more than other Tripels out there.

On tap at Carmel Upland tap room.

A: Clear medium gold with about a finger of solid white head. Very good.

S: Candy like esters, bubble gum, coriander, light spices.

T: The esters and gum come out at first, particularly as the beer warms a tad. The alcohol is there, but muted for this high ABV. Tripels are great for that almost candy like flavor and this hits it perfectly without introducing unnecessary oddities.

M: Medium bodied and very fresh from the tap. Excellent.

One of my favorite Tripels.

A – dark yellow. Like a farmhouse or a saisson. No head at all.

S – fruity, a lot like blue moon (no offense). The alcohol is noticeable.

T – Immediately sweet, tastes like Mead. I’d swear there’s oranges in here. I almost thought too sweet, but it’s growing on me. It is softly layered, with the slightest hint of bitter at the end. You have to really taste for any bit of Hops. It’s nicely strong in flavor, a lot of tripel’s seem watered down, not this one. This one is almost syrupy…

M – thicker than most beers. Plenty of sweet aftertaste … and if you really look for it, a bit of hops.

O – I couldn't drink a six pack of this. It’s thick, and too sweet for my preference. That said, it’s got a nice layer of heavy mead opening, and a softer slight tinge of hops after. As for it being supposedly “Belgian Style”; I can’t find it. None of the classic Phenolic yeast taste that you’d get in a normal Trappist or another high end Tripel. While this beer is a good sweet sipping beer, I was disappointed not to taste any of the acidic layers that I seek out Belgian beer specifically for.
