Very happy with this beer. I've been looking for a nice stout for a while. Some are too dark, too chocolatey, this one though, for me, was a great balance. I highly recommend trying this

I had a 330ml bottle. This beer won a bronze medal in the Craft Beer Industry of Australia 2014 Craft Beer Awards in the 3G category Foreign (Export) Style Stout.
Appearance: rich dark brown, with strong creama cappuccino style head that settles to a good 2mm to 3mm top hence the reference to "creama".
Aroma: lots of strong coffee aroma and roasted malts evident. I did a comparison taste with this and the Holgage Temptress porter which is a chocolate style porter. The clear coffee aroma difference is a stand out and a credit to the brewer.
Flavour: coffee richness flavours follow through on the palate. Good medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Quite a bitter finish also reminiscent of bitter coffee flavour and aftertaste.
Overall: a great stout representation with strong bitter coffee flavours and aroma evident throughout. Coffee drinkers who like a dark beer will love this. If you don't like coffee as a drink then I doubt you will like this and will find it too bitter and want to pass on it.

A: Pours a dark brown, almost black color with a nice frothy tan head that fades to some lacing.

S: Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate dark fruit and bit of nut in the background.

T: Taste continues with roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate with some dark fruit in the background. Nice bitterness and a dry finish.

F: Fairly full body, smooth and creamy. Nicely balanced.

O: Very enjoyable stout. Worth checking out.

Pours Black 'n' tan - a half finger coarse head.

Aromas of caramel, chocolate and iced coffee.

Taste is roast malt-driven, not as many elements as nose. Not sure if really as heavy as Foreign Extra stout usually is.

Mouthfeel is creamy, but medium weight. Quite sessionable as a result

Pours a dark brown with a flick of red. Solid tan head that drops to a light covering.

The nose is everything I like in stout. Coffee and bitter chocolate with a touch of milk chocolate too. Some fruitiness.

Coffee dominates the palate. Very assertive biterness.

Medium bodied.

A good stout but a little thinner than what I really like.

330 ml poured into a tulip Aged about 6 months

A-- Poured a dark cola color, lots of ruby coming through the beer. Very small, quarter of an inch, off white, or very light brown head. Some head retention but also quick fading. No carbonation showing at all.

S-- Faint traces of coffee and roasted malts. A lot of stewed figs and plumb. Got the figs and plum right after opening the bottle. Granted this has a bit of age on it but like the Belgian type smell to this.

T-- Roasted malts, roasted coffee and more figs. Gets very thin very quickly.

M-- Gets thin and watery in the middle of palate and then get roasted to almost over extracted coffee in the end. Just a little bit of lactose as well. Bitter coffee finish and bitter coffee aftertaste. Good finish but middle needs some work.

D-- Well hidden ABV at 6.2% but this needs some refinement. Like the nose and the finish but the taste and middle get watery and thin quick. Not as good as other Australian types.

Appearance , when it comes to stout , seems to be non debatable .They all look black and really dark Some have a big head some have a small to no head and most are in between , which is where hargreaes exemplar of the style sits.
This has all the requisite characteristics of bitterness , coffee/ chocolate hints some charred grains without any harsh edges to it .
perhaps a bit watery and thin for my liking
Overall a decent enough drink, but burdened in expectation by the greatness of its Brewery brother ,the magnificent ESB

A - some light through center of glAd, creamy white head.

S - extremely mild malts with maybe just a touch of chocolate. The scent is so mild that it us hard to tell.

T - malts and caramel. Fresh fruit and almost cola like flavor.

M - mild coating but a tingle that moves all over the mouth through the after taste.

D - I could have a few, especially with a meal.

This brew pours a cola and bourbon coloured hue with nice carbonation that leaves behind a two finger coffee laced head and clingy lacing everywhere, the smell is a mix of dark chocolate, expresso and tobacco,it has a rather lucious full mouthfeel which coats the mouth with flavours of dark belgian chocolate, tobacco, white coffee and finishes with a coffee bean bitterness that subdues any sweetness first encountered, overall its alright but this brewery can do better.

A- about a cm of off-white head, which quickly subsides but never really leaves, is a murky black.

S- sweet malts, milo-esque, tiny bit of raisin sweetness in there. different, but in a good way.

T- very subtle, a bit of raisin fruityness, and just the slightest touch of bitterness. a bit of caramel maltyness in there, maybe some sweet chocolate. As it warms up roasty bitterness comes through a lot more strongly

M- middle of the tongue sweetness followed by back of the tongue bitterness, finish literally drys out the tongue. great

Drinkability is alright, not the most drinkable beer, but more one to be savoured and though over, i really like it though. i love how the raisiny sweetness moves on to roasty bitterness as it warms up.

Pours black with a small tan head.
Nose shows rich, sweet roasted malt, lots of dark chocolate and espresso. Very nice.
Flavours are more aggressive, lots of roasted character and a bit of trecle without any of the aforementioned chocolate and very little supporting malt. Finishes short and sharp with a roasty bitterness.
Body seems a little watery.
