64 oz. growler bought from the brewpub with a date of 2/22. Poured into a Town Hall Chalice glass.
Appearance: Pours a deep copper amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Starts with a big four finger off white head that quickly fades into a thin patch. Leaves a decent amount of lacing around the glass.
Smell: Aroma is a bold but very balanced mix of bitter hops and sweet malts. Earthy and citrus hops with hints of orange, grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon. Some spicy pine and floral aromas. Big malt profile with good hints of bready biscuit, caramel, toffee, yeast, nuts, and grains. Some candied sugar and a little hint of honey. Leans a little more to the bready malt side but the balance is pretty good with a strong hop presence. A nice spicy full aroma.
Taste: Like the aroma hints, although the malt presence is even stronger. Very bready toasted malt presence up front with a taste of biscuit, grains, caramel, toffee, yeast, and nuts. Some sweet sugar and honey notes linger around. Solid hop presence with a nice spicy kick of floral hops and pine resin. Notes of citrus orange, grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine. The spice is so noticeable that it seems like there is some rye in the mix as well. A pretty good balanced taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, spicy, and smooth. Alcohol heat is masked well.
Overall: A very good take on the style. Very English with a strong malt balance to the hops. Really nice spice going on here.

A: Poured a golden-orangish color with a white whispy leaving behind some moderate lacing, faint bubbles..
S: Herbal, bready with some floral notes
T: Initial taste is a bit herbal with floral hop notes riding on the back of a bready malt base. A little bit of lingering bitterness on this but mainly on the back end/finish.
M: Low-medium bodied, well carbonated
O: Traditionally not a fan of the style but if I were to drink a modern day English IPA it would be this one. Very good.
