I was at Town Hall and decided to pick this one up on my way home. I'm no expert on Belgian beers, but I do love a good Tripel.

The beer pours out of the growler into my Flat Earth Belgian Chalice quite nicely. Nice soft head that tapers off to a 1/8 inch. Beautiful clear gold-amber color. Lively carbonation that seems to call out my name. The aroma is kind of what you expect from a Tripel, a bit winey and fruity. There is some sweetness perceived from the candi sugars. The taste is very complex w/ plenty of yeasty flavors. Complex fruitiness w/ raisens, plum, and even hints of grape. There is some spiciness as well. Lovely esters present throughout. Not a great deal of bitterness, but this fits the style well. I don't taste the high ABV initially, but there is a mild alcoholic "burn" towards the end. The mouthfeel is lite and crisp.

Overall, a fantastic Belgian styled ale. One of the best American examples of the style. With every sip you taste quality. Complex enough to please the beer snob, simple enough to entice a beer novice. Perhaps the best part about this beer is the freshness. Man it is good to live in the Twin Cities when you have breweries and brewpubs like Town Hall to supply your palate.

750 ml mini growler bought from the brewpub with an enjoy by date of SEP, 02, 2016. Poured into a Town Hall Chalice glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of off white head that fades fairly quickly.

Smell: A spicy and fruity Belgian style aroma with a scent of yeast and dried fruit. Belgian yeast with a scent of clove, coriander, and pepper. Dried fruit hints of banana, apple, and pear along with some subtle citrus orange and apricot. Malt hints of grains, cracker, and biscuit. Hints of candied sugar. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a spicy and fruity Belgian Tripel style taste with notes of dried fruit and spices. Belgian yeast with notes of clove, pepper, and coriander. Dried fruit notes of banana, pear, and apple with citrus notes of orange peel and apricot. Malt notes of cracker, grains, and biscuit. Light candied sugar sweetness. A very nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp and smooth with a drying finish.

Overall: A very solid take on a Belgian Tripel. Nice mix of spice and dried fruit.

This beer arrives a semi-cloudy dark orange color. The head is an off white cap that recedes slowly. The aroma is of bright apricot and tangerine, very fruity with feel other yeast notes, but still beautiful. The taste is just as fruity with a chalky finish...chalky is a wonderful way. The mouthful is almost full bodied with soft carbonation, and a velvety texture. Overall, this is one of the best North American made Belgian style beers I've tasted. Kudos Town Hall crew.

Draft. 12oz pour served at Town Hall Tap. Pours a copper golden color with a frothy white 1 finger head. Sweet fruit taste blended with Belgian yeast esters. Medium mouthfeel. Nice lace left on the glass. Apple fruit like aromas in the nose. Nice drinker. The alcohol is there but it doesn't overwhelm the taste.

On tap at Town Hall Tap

Served in a chalice.

Served with 1/2 finger of white head that fades down a bit. Leaves some nice lace. Color is a clear golden yellow.

Aroma: Banana, cloves, spice, belgian yeast.pears, apples, and some bready malts.

Taste: Dried red apples, pears, cloves, yeast, spices, and a bit of booze. Coriander and bready malts show.

Mouthfeel: Dry and crisp. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry with a lot of spice flavors.

Overall, a very solid triple. Good flavors with a nice amount of dryness. Decent drinkability as well. Light booze shows, but it works well.

Last April, registering for class, I dreaded every Wednesday night for it was my (hopefully final) night class. Fast forward to now, I realize that my class is only about half a mile from Town Hall. That means I'm heading to Town Hall every Thursday night after (or during...) class!

Ordered this with my usual Black and Blue burger. Served in a 10oz tulip, this brew is a particularly beautiful shade of gold. Good carbonation and a small tan head with ok retention. Not much lacing.

Smell is sweet and malty, alcohol, Belgian yeast and possibly some spices.

Taste is on par with the nose, and most other tripels I've had. Sweet and malty, with the typical belgian calling card yeast and spices. Tasty for sure.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, maybe a little thicker (which I like) than I'm used too. Lively carbonation cuts down on the alcohol, which is virtually non-existant. Great stuff.

Another great seasonal from Town Hall. I can't get enough of this places brews. I hope they make this again soon.

Wonder what will be available next Wednesday night...

Shared a ten ounce pour with the wife over a typically excellent Town Hall dinner.

Smell...well, almost none. Frankly, I was hoping this would be really good, but I've found Town Hall rocks anything involving hops & their other beers can be anywhere from kick-Weston-butt to meh. Smells...meh. Pale orange-amber didn't light me afire with desire, either.

Taste follows suit. This is standard-fare tripel, sweet, malty, with a bit of alcohol in the back, dry. Pretty good.

Triple Vision is a solid example of a triple, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. Good brew.

This beer has a pretty interesting look to it, a dark amber color, very clear though. There's nearly nothing for a head, no carbonation bubbles, nothing going on. It doesn't look stale though, it looks pure, like spring water or something. If I was told this beer was found in the center of some glacier or the like, I'd believe it.

The smell is kind of intense, coriander and cloves, with a touch of banana sweetening the aroma. There is a strong sour apple and sour grape thing going on too.

The taste is a lot sweeter than I expected. I was expecting the banana that I got, but there were bits of cherries and an almost pineapple-like quality. There was nothing sour noticeable, except for a hint of lemon zest.

There isn't much for carbonation, but the body is a little heavier than light-bodied. The combination makes for a very sippable beer that continues to refresh over and over again. It's kind of soft actually, comforting even. Great stuff.

Sampling this brew courtesy of Feloniousmonk. Thanks for the hook up! I am pouring into a tulip glass with a cold growler. The beer pours a clear amber color with spongey eggshell white head of 1 cm foaming up and fading very slowly. Aroma is sweet fruit with white grape and melon dominating. First sip reveals an average body with syrupy texture and very soft fine carbonation. Flavor is some general fruitiness with grape and melon again not very rich or complex but tasty. The beer finishes clean and no hint of alcohol. An easy drinking tripel, that could use a bit more umph in the flavor department.

Appearance: Orange-golg color, small white head, a thin layer lingers a long while.

Smell: Sweet, grainy, fruity, pear, banana, not bad, a little spicey, better as it warms. Good.

Taste: Grainy and banana are primary, fruity and spicy as it goes down. Alcohol is slightly present, pretty good. I have had many better of the style, I would like to try this aged a little longer, if that were only possible.

Drinkability: Fine to sip on a cool August evening, the body is smooth, with alcohol tingling a bit. Another good beer from Town Hall.

Bight orange-amber in color, slightly hazy, with a think beige head that settles mainly to a ring. Noticeable malty aroma that was a little fruity, with some spicy and peppery notes. The taste has a lot of ripe fruit flavors, apple peels, pears, raisins, cherries, even some banana. Quite peppery with a grain-y and yeasty sweet malt. Mouthfeel is a little sticky, with just enough carbonation to break things up. The booze is definitely there, but not off putting, decent drinkability for a trippel.

Thanks to BA Doolar for lugging this across the country on his vacation. He gets my air mattress for a week and I get a Town Hall growler. Seems like a good deal to me.

This beer poured a pretty solid amber with a thin wispy film surrounded by a substantial collar.

Smelled strongly of plain and simple barley and a sting of alcohol nestled up against a dry pasty yeast and plumb skin. In short it smelled like a triple/malt-liquor hybrid.

The flavor was very similar but better assembled. There was the dry sourness of malt-liquor but it was blended well with the alcohol and spicy yeast. Finished pleasantly dry.

The mouth feel was medium bodied with a moderate swarm of tiny bubbles.

Not too hot for the style. Seemed to strong and the malt-liquor overtones were really distracting. The more it warmed, the more it tasted like the last few inches out of a 40 of Old English. Maybe something happened on the car ride out to Philly, but this just wasn’t all that great.

Thanks to Faro for lugging this as well as two other growlers with him on his trip to Dayton.

What a pristine, sheek, clean, appearance this tripel possesses. Clear and bright orangish copper. Looks like cream soda. Poured with a nice white head that didn't want to stick around for lunch. Leaves no lace.

Definitely smells like it's from Belgium. Sweet caramel malt aromas with that Belgian spicey aroma. Some alcohol is also present. Fig, peach, and apricot, as well as overly ripe apple.

Impeccably balanced, the spice devours the mid palate and lingers in the finish. Same fruits as described in the nose with a little white pepper on top. Clean refreshing carbonated mouthfeel make this a damn drinkable tripel.

8.8% abv this go-around

a - deep golden color, small head with little retention and lacing, good looking tripel though

s - sweet fruitiness with a good amount malts also

t - perfect balance of fruity sweetness and malt, tastes like the work of Belgian monks, not much hops or bitterness in this one

m - fairly lively in the mouth, medium-bodied

d - extremely drinkable and very dangerous, the alcohol is virtually undetectible and the flavor kept me taking sips until (alas!) the glass was empty

I enjoyed quite a few of these the last two Wednesdays. I like it quite a bit more than the St. Bernardus Tripel. I hope Town Hall keeps this one around for awhile.

Copper color....looks impressive...aroma is sweet and rich belgrian malts..

Very tasty....assertive maltiness but not cloying..

Medium to full bodied...spot on carbonation helps tame the sweeter feel to this.

Excellent triple..rich, malty and satisfying..I wish I could save a growler of this for Thanksgiving..excellent triple...highly drinkable...this could be dangerous..

On tap at the brewpub...

Clearish ginger color, with a distinct orange cast to it. Little head, a rim around the glass after 20 seconds. Leaves dots on the side for its spare lace. Apricot aromas, some steeped cinnamon orange -compote notes. Body is lightish with a good firm carbonation that keeps things lively. Alcoholic and full of spice, almost a candied orange implied in th earoma with capers thrown in to give a light astringency and to turn things up a notch. Sweetens at the close, flowery with more pepper and alcohol warmth. More aftertaste than I like in a Tripel. Not as dry as it could be, but a tasty beer in its own right.

pours out a clear bronze colour with a brown egg shell fine and staying head. cookie dough aroma, hints of must, backed by some pepper and clove spiciness. first sip unleashes the spice, quickly followed by a sweet candi sugar coating on the tongue..second sip....more peppery spice dominates...then fades away to a blanket sweet sublime malten goodness. the alcohol is masked as a layer of spiciness... their is a slight prickly mouthfeel, but it's more rich and smooth than a lot other belgian style ales that are annoying with the prickly carbonation. this is rounded and a bit oily (cloying) in nature belgian ale. the alcohol creeps in the picture after a few sips....mostly percepted by the body and not the taste buds, except as a spice. this is a sit back and sip the nite away belgian style ale....quite filling and satisfying with a variety of flavours aromas. quite nice and recommended if you can get a chance to sample it.

another huge round of gratitude to feloniousmonk for another fine growler of town hall beer delivered during my wedding weekend!!
