Notes/Commercial Description:
Our interpretation of the classic ale that originated in Glasgow, Scotland. A full-body ale, rich in malt complexity. Brewed with both English and American barley and many, many specialty malts allowing hints of roasted chocolate, caramel and raisins with very little hop presence.

Had on tap at the brewery. Served into a pint glass.

Appearance: clear, dark brown in color, 1/4 inch head, moderate carbonation

Smell: toasted malt, peat, and dark chocolate

Taste: toasted malt, caramel, peat, and dark chocolate

Mouthfeel: sweet, medium-heavy body, medium carbonation

Overall: A nice and chocolaty treat. I could have several pints of this. I actually think I like this more than Mama Masala although both are great in their styles.

On Tap at Town Hall Brewery.

Appearance - Dark Brown with a red tint at the bottom. Head is about 1 finger in width that fades in a couple of minutes.

Smell - Caramel, Toffee, Peated Scotch, Chocolate, and Burnt Malts. Smells just like a scotch ale should!

Taste - Much like the smell, we've got Caramel, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Toffee and Burnt Malts. Not as vibrant as others I've tried but still tastes rather good!

Mouthfeel - Very light bodied and very lightly carbonated as well. Very crisp, refreshing and very easy to drink

Overall - I figured I'd stop by here before I move out of town, and I'm glad I stopped by. Sure, I've have more flavorful Scotch Ales, but this is probably the easiest one I've had to drink thus far. Here's hoping that we'll one day see this in stores nationwide!

On tap at the brewery poured into sampler glass. Pours a clear chestnut brown with white wispy head that leaves almost no lacing. Aroma is surprisingly sweet and vinous. Flavor is intensely rich and vinous, though it’s "rich" without being "thick" or syrupy. In fact it’s a pretty thin palate on this beer. Very modest hop bitterness. Light to medium-bodied mouthfeel. Very nice scotch ale!

On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a standard shaker pint glass.

Appearance: A dark brownish ruby red with a moderate amount of bubbles. Decent two fingers of off white head with good retention and lots of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A sweet and very bready aroma of malts. Lots of caramel and toffee. Big presence of dark raisins. Also some peat and hints of nuts and chocolate. Hops are very faint. Big on bready malts and fairly sweet.

Taste: A big mix of sweet and bready malts. A good taste of caramel, toffee, and raisins with a hint of prune. Hints of peat, chocolate, and nuts also linger. Light taste of earthy hops towards the finish. On the sweeter side but not overdone. Tastes good.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Light but somewhat chewy and very smooth.

Overall: A solid Scotch ale that makes a good option when seeking something lighter. Very nice use of malts.

Appearance is perfect for the style, a brilliantly clear reddish/caramel brown, topped with a creamy tan head, leaves sticky webs of lacing.

Aroma is bready, malty and raisiny.

Taste is similar, getting raisin like from Special B, possibly some Munich there is a melanoidiny bread crust taste over plenty of pale malt. No there isn't any smoke or peat, Scottish ales don't taste like smoke or peat. OK, I got a little smoke on my 3rd pint, that I drank while eating some buffalo chicken.

Nice break from the hoppier beers I tend to drink, not getting much of anything in the way of hops.

Medium bodied, creamy good drinker especially for 6% ABV

A: Toffee-amber color, with moderate lacing and a thin white head.

S: Light coffee, milk chocolate, toffee, and sweet roasted malts. No distinguishable hops.

T: Toffee, dark fruits (raisins mainly), roasted malts, red apple, and metallic tinge. Very light hopping.

M: Light and spritzy, with no noticeable alcohol.
