With 90 sterling reviews before me in the database, the Town Hall Brewery is hardly a surprise. It is an exceptional brewpub with great atmosphere, beer, and food. A must-visit in Minneapolis and as worthy as any brewpub I've ever visited of a long-distance pilgrimage.
The decor is restrained: the brewery has a front bar, a summer patio, and a back dining room/lounge. All three are sparsely decorated, though the old building is well restored. It is inviting without being over-the-top, and the division of space keeps it from feeling too big. The windows looking out onto the street are the main source of ambient light and give the place a darkish feel.
They had nine brews on tap--the five regular offerings (IPA, dortmunder, English bitter, Scottish ale, oatmeal stout), plus their English IPA, summer wheat pale ale, milk porter, and mango mama. Add in a few carefully selected guest taps (Southern Tier, Duchesse, Rodenbach, Aechta) and the selection is really overwhelming. Every single one of the house beers was exceptional, with special kudos for the oatmeal stout, IPAs, mango mama, and summer ale. I have never encountered a brewpub with such a strong and consistent set of offerings.
Food and service are both fine, and prices are reasonable.
The Town Hall--like Fitger's up in Duluth, MN--takes the traditional brewpub and does it exceptionally well. This is an ideal place for drinking great beer.

Just had beers and didn't try the food. The service was pretty slow and I was sitting at a table since there were no bar seats available, so I didn't get to ask for samples of a few beers before ordering.
There was redemption for this in two of the beers I had, the Masala Mama, which was very good, and the Raspberry Mocha Porter nitro pour, which was good and refreshing. It seems this place makes some great beers and likes to experiment, something I appreciate.
The prices are reasonable, $5-7 a pour, and there are a number of guest beers on tap as well.
I can't comment on the food since I didn't try it.
