A: Light orange/dark yellow with a off white head that looks pretty creamy and thick from the cask/beer engine pull. Good lacing.

S: Sweet malts, a bit of floral and citrus hops. Just like their Blackwatch Oatmeal Stout, this has a very weak nose. This doesn't smell like a strong pale ale as they call it.

T: Taste is kind of similar. More sweet and fruity malts than hops. There are a bit of citrus hops, but not what I was expecting.

M: Medium body. Pretty smooth and a bit creamy. Its a nice mouthfeel, but it is a little odd for being a pale ale.

D: Okay drinkability. Its just not what I thought it was going to be. I probably would stay away from this one when I get back there again.

Not great but not bad. Smooth, drinkable cask beer.

Color was promising.

Smell is missing a bit but not bad Missing some hops but overall an enjoyable pint. Worth ordering a second one
keeps you warm on a visit to st paul. Gotta support brew pubs that go for the cask.

Draft. 2010 St. Paul Summer Fest. Poured an opaque hued orange with no head. Some citrus notes in the nose alond with rind. The initial sip is all hops in my opinion with very little malt backbone. It just felt a little underbalanced to me. Just bitter from start to finish. Mouthfeel was medium. Hate to knock a local brewpub but this was just not that good.

Tried to enjoy a pint of this with a standard, excellent dinner at Great Waters. Their food is consistently excellent, their beer...often good, but a bit hit & miss. This one, with Glacier, Summit Dwarf, & Amarillo hops on cask, sounded very promising.

Poured a typical pale yellow pale. Smell is where this starts to go blah. It's blah. Where are all the hops? Just a bare whiff of pale malts & scarcely imagined hops in the nose.

The taste is about the same. Hops are virtually MIA. Pale malts are subsumed beneath an extremely creamy mouthfeel. The flavors are both washed, & not in AllTempACheer, they're faint ghosts of what I'd hoped for in a three-hop cask pale. Just good enough to complement an excellent St. Paul burger.

Mediocre is probably stretching it. In the constellation of Great Waters beers, I'd look elsewhere.
