12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 1/14/2015. Pours hazy orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Incredible appearance. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, light banana, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus hops, pale malt, and light-moderate fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, light banana, clove, wheat, bread, light honey, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-monderate pine/grassy bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange zest, light pine, light banana, clove, wheat, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice robustness and complexity of citrus hops, bready malt, and light-moderate fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent hoppy pale wheat ale style. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus hops, pale malt, and light-moderate fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Starburst Wheat - Saugatuck Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this beer's head is two fingers thick with web-like lacing and a hazy golden body.

Smells like a nice, bright mix of pine and tropical tasting hops with a touch of citrus.

I taste, you've guessed it: that mix of pine and tropical hops with a touch of citrus. Also in this mix is the revered citrus hop taste. These are all fairly mild and do not assault the palate. I could see this being a top notch summer brew.

The mouthfeel of this brew is clean and refreshing. A very effective quencher IMO.

Overall, I'll give Starburst Wheat - Saugatuck Brewing Company a 4.25. As I've seen other reviews state, this COULD of had an ever-so- slightly fuller body resulting in a higher score. But this most will most certainly suffice. Hope this is around next summer, as I've reviewed this on a rather brisk Ohio autumn day.

My second beer from you guys is a wheat ale, and American pale wheat ale at that. A strong forget me about an inch and a half of like 10 head body is a hazing gold in color. The nose smells of citrus, wheat, and a bit of pickles. The flavor is very clean and include some grassy hop based notes on the back of the tongue. This beer is incredibly easy to drink and go down very smoothly. Is not cloying at all and would make for a very good summer sipper. This is over alla solid beer for the style.

I picked this up at the Binny's store in Bloomingdale, IL as part of a build-your-own six pack for $9.99, making this single 12oz brown bottle $1.67. It had a clearly marked expiration date of 6/2/15 stamped on the bottle, and this is already November of '15, so this one is already a few months past its prime.

The beer poured a solid gold color and was very cloudy, which is expected with a wheat beer. There was a 2-finger whispy white head on top that lasted a few minutes and left a decent amount of lacing.

The beer smelled like wheat, tropical fruit, and citrus hops.

This tastes pretty much like it smells. Good wheat base with lots of tropical fruit flavors plus a touch of tangerine and grapefruit citrus. Hoppier than most wheat ales, but at just 25 IBUs it isn't overly bitter either.

Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Very refreshing.

This is a good beer. I can only imagine how much better it might have been had I been given a fresher bottle.

Everything about this beer clicks, from the amber beer under thick foamy head to the bright nose full of tropical hops, right down to the terrific taste that amongst the piney blast is just a bit of spice. Only knock? It's very thin. Otherwise, nice offering indeed.

I picked up a bottle of Saugatuck's Starbust Wheat last week for $1.59 at The Lager Mill. I'm always down to try a new beer from Saugatuck and since it's the time when brewerys start to release their wheat beers I thought i would give this one a try, so lets see how it goes. Bottled on 1/14/15.. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks good, it's got a nice design to it and it's eye catching. It poured a nice slightly gold orange color that took on more of a brighter amber orange color when held to the light with one and a half fingers worth of bubbly off white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left some spotty and patchy lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the fruits being the first to show up with some nice orange juice like aromas coming through and it's quickly followed by some tropical fruit and citrus fruit hops that make for a nice pineapple orange juice like aroma with just a slight bit of floral and green hops showing up in the background. Up next comes a slight bit of doughy yeast with some some sweet malt, bready, pale malts ans wheat aromas coming through. This beer has a good aroma, I like the way the hops worked with the base beer.

T- The taste seems to be pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with a just a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness with the that same nice mixture of oranges and fruity hops making for a nice pineapple orange juice flavor and there's still a light amount of green and floral hops showing up in the background. Up next comes a slight bit of doughy yeast with the malts showing up also and they impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma, but they are a little lighter. On the finish there's a higher amount of light bitterness with a nice hoppy and orange pineapple juice like flavors showing up in the aftertaste. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, the hop profile works nicely with the base beer.

M- Smooth, a little crisp, a little refreshing, on the very light side of being medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel was good and it worked well with this beer, I have no complaints.

Overall I thought this was a good beer and I thought it was a pretty nice example of the style, it had just about everything that I look for in the style with the hops showing up nicely and they worked nicely with the base beer to make for a good combination. This beer has good drinkability, it's smooth, a little crisp, a little refreshing, not filling and the taste does a nice job at holding my attention, I could drink a few of these especially when the weather is warmer. What I like the most about this beer was the hop profile it was pretty nice and it worked great with the base beer. What I like the least abouit this beer was nothing, there isn't anything I disliked or would change, it's fine just the way it is. I would buy this beer again, especially when in it gets warmer outside and I would recommend this beer. All in all I was happy with this beer, I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but in the end I thought the different aspects worked well with each other and it made for a tasty beer. It's one of the better Saugatuck beer's i've had and it's one of the better example of the a hoppy wheat ale that I've had. Good job guys, I enjoyed this beer, keep up the hard work.
