Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a beer mug.

Appearance: Beer is a slightly cloudy medium-dark golden color with medium-level active carbonation visible through the glass. Head is airy; almost pure white; and leaves thick lacing occasionally as it recedes.

Smell: Almost like an orange creamsicle. Malt is pleasantly like sweet cream, and the hops shine through with a true orange scent. Mostly floral nose on the hops, though there's a slight tinge of bitterness if you focus hard enough.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Beer is medium-bodied, and enters with a mild hop bitterness. As the carbonation plays out, the malt lays down on the tongue with a subtle sweetness nowhere near cloying. Great flavor without being too unrestrained...a nearly perfect brew! Aftertaste is reminiscent of pine sap.

Overall: Not a bad drink. There's nothing over-the-top awesome going on, but it fits within the style perfectly. Definitely worth a try if you're ever around Douglas, MI.

On tap at Fishbones in Detroit. Pours an amber color, mild clarity; the beer arrived with nearly no head at all except for a tiny, tiny collar around the very edge of the glass. Smell is upfront with the traditional hop-citrus combo; piney, herbal, and a bit spicy with oranges and grapefruit being the easiest fruits to pick out. Taste is no surprise, thanks to the aroma. Hop flavors crash first; pines, dry grass, leafy and herbal, with a slight peppery spice that starts off like it's going to be a problem, but then quickly shows itself to the background. The sweetness comes through a little while after to try and combat the hops. Oranges, grapefruit, and maybe a touch of pineapple. Slight caramel flavor from the malt, but far from heavy by any means. Medium body, pretty average amount of carbonation.

I enjoyed this beer, but I feel like it does nothing to really stand out in front of the vast majority of other IPAs out there. At a place that serves mainly BMC products on tap, this was a great choice. But in a store filled with hundreds of other beers, I'd probably never bother to revisit this one.

Great crisp clean IPA. Has a very well balance between the malt and the citrus bitterness.

The head on this beer, just slightly tinted, starts off fluffy and creamy and settles to a craggy, billowing two fingers. Beyond that, it settles slowly, getting heavier as it does until it almost looks like a solid, though it does settle to a thick, fat island. All the while, it leaves chunky webbing clinging stickily to the top of the glass, followed by spotting.
There's a bright citrus hops bouquet with an accompaniment of floral bitterness and a touch of pine. It's mostly bright and juicy with some tropical fruits as well as citrus and the zest along with it, but it's balanced by mildly sweet malts with a bready character.
The pine and citrus combo is what hits the tongue at first, with just a light resinous pith. A little saltiness flashes in before leafy rawness, then the complementing caramel and breads. It drifts off a little at the end, but it's pretty impressive until then.
The feel is creamy with a light nip off a soft carbonation in a medium body that edges toward the lighter side.

My first review. Please forgive any etiquette errors. Blind buy at a great little beer store in Muskegon, Michigan - Ladd's. Looking for local brews I can't get at home in Pittsburgh. Owner recommedned this one which is brewed nearby. Bought a six pack of Founder's Centennial which I have had before as a comparison. Liked the Singapore IPA better and I am a fan of Founder's Centennial. Great color and head retention which you don't uisually get in most IPA's. Exceptional mouthfeel for an IPA. Creamy but not enough to take away from the great citrus flavors and balanced hops. A must try for any IPA fan if you can find it.

A: Carefully poured cold into a Weisen glass, Singapore IPA yielded absolutely zero head, minor lacing on the glass as you tilt it to and fro. However, the actual color is a rich golden amber...like when you wake up after a long night and take a good piss!

S: Mild, floral scent, hints of citrus hops, finishing with fresh pine needle notes. Not overwhelming in either a good or bad way- just a good, adequate amount of all elements mentioned.

T: This is where Singapore IPA lets you down...the carbonation is quite strong...too strong for an IPA, in my opinion. The actual flavors are quite subdued; sadly, none of the relative complexities I smelled initially translate into the taste. Really, this has more in common with an Adjunct American Lager than a craft IPA...I'm even getting aftertaste notes of corn. Not cool!

M: Tingly carbonation, watery, lingering moistness...qualities I would frankly expect from a Miller High Life, not a craft IPA. Disappointing...

O: The appearance and smell of this beer belie the lack of substance within. I'm a big IPA fan, and I REALLY tried to like this beer- but frankly, Saugatuck's Singapore IPA is like a sheep in wolves' clothing- all bark, but no bite when push comes to shove.

A: light and airy golden honey body with a tremendous amount of bubbles constantly working. I can even pull some orange colors resting below the bone white sheet of icing on top. Head retention is rather impressive as a solid layer of dense foam is stuck on top, momentarily shifting and slushing about after each sip. A pretty solid sheet of lacing is sticking to the glass...here, there, and just about everywhere. Nice look.

S: sharp and pungent fruits (grapefruit, lemons, and tart oranges). Light sugared malts exist in harmony. I am thinking that this is a high alpha hop laden brew with a slight musk and dank hop whiff (reminiscent of the sticky icky)

T: phew. A strong sticky hop resin makes this beer great. The sugar cookie malts bask within the hop juices and round things out rather nice. Flavors of white grapefruit, a squeeze of lemons, a basket of pine needles and a smidgen of pineapple juice are hop-tastic. My tongue is left a bit wrecked after successive sips and gulps. This is without a doubt a hop monster. Pretty impressive from a new brewery, a very bold brew and I like

M: finishes a touch on the dry and bitter side. Hops take a hold and do not let go. I find the body and feel very nice and in the realm of light to mild, maybe just a touch to thin. Plenty of carbonation exists that gives a nice tickle

D: this will most likely make its way into my fridge again. Glad I tried it and I am left wondering why it took so long to have it. A good beer from the neighbor to my south and hopefully more solid beers to come

Sampled on draft at Crunchy's in East Lansing. Body is a nice golden color topped by a finger's worth of creamy white head. Aroma is dank, resinous, and piny, along with just a whiff of pale malt and a hint of skunk. A nice tiered lacing forms on the glass as the level goes down.
Palate is very hop-forward. Pine, resin, ganja, and a hint of very bitter citrus are only very slightly offset by the light pale malt base. Finish is a lingering piny bitterness. Body is creamy and a little bit sticky, with a long-lasting, sticky hop residue on the finish. I feel like I need a toothbrush after finishing a pint. A very enjoyable beer, goes down very easy. Definitely the hoppiest non-west coast beer I've ever had. Simply excellent.

Not overly impressed with this one. To me its closer to an English style IPA than an AIPA. Nevertheless, the appearance is nothing remarkable, clear golden color (I was able to avoid the massive settlement at the bottom of the bottle) with thin almost non existent white head. The smell is more bittering hops as well as the taste. The first few sips let's one know that alcohol is prevalent. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with decent carbonation. Overall its ok....just expect more of an standard english IPA.

Just slightly darker than straw yellow in color. Tons of cascading sticky lace.

Smell is resinous pine and floral notes. I don't really pick up any malts at all. It just reeks of hops.

Whoa, this is bitter to the extent of masking the flavor. The piney hops do peek through, but the hops are almost all puckering effect. There's an asprin aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is a little thin, but well carbonated. And bitter.

I liked this beer, but the overly bitter hops detract from the flavor. If the bitterness was just toned down slightly I think it would be a better package.
