I found this place when picking up some meds for my mother this past weekend. I was astounded to see the full Rogue bottles for 6.99. I tried out the Big Red from their Imperial series. There are various older and more rare Dog Fish (Pangea) as well as the new Palo Santo. Lots of excellent belgians of dubble/tripl/quads. Lots of Lefthand Brewery but not as much Brooklyn for some reason and considering the closeness, that was odd. They have a good glass selection with one free after buying 3. I was very happy with the pint and half Innis & Gunn next to the cash register for 5.99. A great beer store that does not just have six packs but over 100 in singles. Oh all of the SN, have not seen the Porter or Wheat in my neck of the woods.

I stopped in this place to look at their craft beer selection and was glad I did. They carry a lot of craft beer as well as a nice selection of imports. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable. The beers were fresh and the prices were the same or less than other beer stores I've been to on Long Island. They offer single bottles for sale, which is always a good thing when you're just looking to try a beer without commiting to 4, 6 or 12 of them. I'm going to visit this store more often, as it's close to my place of work.

This has been my go-to store since 2007. At first it was all about convenience, but in the past 2 years (especially last year), the store has seen a significant improvement in terms of its craft selection, the installation of growler taps (recently upped to 10 taps I believer) and the on-shelf turnover increasing (meaning less old dusties sitting around). Two brothers appear to own the store, Larry and Greg. The latter does not drink, so he may not have the best recommendations, but Larry, who is chummier, knows a good bit. Part-timer Joe is always up for a chat about beer, and is very helpful.
Recent brand additions include: Anderson Valley, Widmer Bros, Lakefront, Clown Shoes
Other American brands include: Anchor, Tommyknocker, Abita, Ballast Point, Southern Tier, Mendocino, Sierra Nevada, Brooklyn, DFH, Troegs, Stone, Goose Island, Saranac, Victory, Sam Adams, Green Flash, Lagunitas, Kona, Ithaca, Captain Lawrence, Bear Republic, Weyerbacher, Slyfox

I visited this location based on the prior two reviews and its proximity to my home and job. I was not expecting very much but was pleasantly surprised.
When visiting a store which bills itself the "Beverage Barn" one would expect that it would have most of the widely commerical available beers and a few unique brews. This was hardly the case.
The variety in the store was incredible. There were large quantities of beers from overseas along with many from microbreweries inclding quite a few that I had never heard of. They even had gluten free beer from a small brewery in Ramapo New York.
The store itself is immaculate and the bottles and shelves were not dusty in the slightest. I was approached by the owner himself who asked me questions about my preferences before recommending "off the beaten path" brews which would satisfy my taste.
The prices were quite reasonable - not as rockbottom as supermakrets when they have loss leaders, but nothing appeared to be out of whack with the average price in this area.

Stoped by today while on the Island.
You can see the bomber selection from the door, and its grand for sure! They have a really nice variety...from Germans, to Belgians, and tons of locals. Not living in Long Island, I have never seen such a selection of Blue Point before.
Walking around is like being in a canyon of beer...macros are literally piled 10'high all around you.
They have, I think, 7 or 8 taps for growler fills. They also keep a nice stock of glassware, in case you dont have enough for some reason. They also have a huge bottle return in the back..along with a bunch of juice and sodas...speaking of soda; you can even fill a growler of Saranac Rootbeer there for $5.99! Pretty cool :)
Service was great. Everyone was really nice, helpful, and just went out of their way to make sure you had what you are looking for.
Overall, a really cool place to stop if you find yourself in the area.

As a former Hofstra University student on Long Island, stopped in here for a beer-run with a buddy of mine... good quality stuff with no expired products as far as I could see... equally good service with a friendly cashier who asked if we were able to find everything we were looking for... decent selection with your typical macros and some micros and craft brews... this place was relatively close to the campus, so it was pretty convenient... a decent place to cop some brews, clean, orderly, and friendly service... worth a try with reasonable prices...

7 growler lines and good, friendly service save this place from mediocrity.
Typical Long island sort of beverage joint...cinder block box of a place, kinda ratty and beat up...the worthy beer is mostly located in the long aisle towards the left as you enter. My first impression was that they need to spend some time to restock, organize and show some more love to the respectable variety of quality brews they stock...didnt see much if any dust, but got the impression some of this stuff has been sittin for a while (why? cuz they had bottles of a few things that I havent seen on shelves for a few moons..IE Captain Larry 5 years later, and Stone 080808) just in general too many open spaces, out of place bottles etc. Also some quality brews in the cooler units but mostly BMC and other assorted non BA worthy type stuff.
Grolwer lines...yes - that why I came for a visit..quality options from Six point, Capt l. Greenpoint Harbor etc..they can be followed for updates on options at Beermenus.com
They also stock a large selection of glassware...if you are into that sort of stuff...worth a visit to fill your growler if you are in the area.

This store is fairly close to a home of a friend in Long Island. We stop in every so often to pick up a little beer. They carry locals like Kingston, Captain Lawrence, others in bottles. For growlers they also give respect to looks like Greenport, Kelso, etc. Aside from Metro NY beers, you can find Founders, Stone, Samuel Smith, belgians, etc.
Beverage Barn also carries soda, including ginger beer, so it is a good place to stock up on mixers for your home bar. Staff usually is not overly helpful, but attentive if you come to them with any questions that you may have. Prices are a little higher than other suburbs of NYC, but I suppose that it is a convenient location. A pretty good shop that is very close to Queens.

This place is close to my office so it is very convenient.
A good selection of Belgians and English ales. Several nice west coast micros available as well as the standard local and national micro brands.
They do not frown upon mixing and matching bottles, which a lot of Long Island beer distributors do not allow. Also, bottles are labeled for individual sale, which enables you to sample without breaking the bank.
The prices are reasonable, and they run nice weekly specials on 12 packs.
A nice selection of gourmet sodas and glassware as well.

Located on a real busy part of Jericho turnpike in Garden City Park. The Beverage Barn as a dedicated row of what I will call craft beers. It ranges from American crafts and all of the usually Belgian and German brews. I do notice that they have some Belgian or German brews that I haven't seen in any other store. The American craft selection is ok, nothing fantastic, pretty much the highly distributed (at least in NY) crafts like Rogue, Long Trail, Sierra Nevada, Victory, and all of the NYS brews. They do sell some glassware which is a nice plus, they have a couple of nice ones. The rest of the store is dedicated to macros, malternatives, and soda. I've been there a little over 6 times and not once have I been asked for help or remotely approached. It is a notch or two above average, it has served me well in the past finding some brews that I hadn't been able to find anywhere else. It is a bit out of the way for me and there are better shops in the Huntington area for me to hit.
