Stopped to stock up on beer and food on our way from Seattle to Olympic National Park. It's a higher end grocery store - lots of nice fresh stuff. Their beer selection was pretty good - they had a wide selection of six packs of locally brewed WA beer which is what I was looking for.

great selection for a market on the kitsap peninsula, there is not much on this side of the water and this is one of the good ones. they are always adding in new brews both local and international.

the price is very reasonable, especially on brewers mixed cases. they always run specials on different brews.

there is not a problem if you break-up six-packs, they have the single bottle price as well as the six-pack price there on the tag.

overall a very nice place to go beer hunting, i have been there about 13 times and i always come home with a few that i have not had before.

While I've never been in the actual store - I've ordered over the phone from these guys a few times, and had friends in the states who live nearby pick up the beer and bring it to me. The selection for a grocery store seems excellent and relatively varied. They stock quite a few local and regional beer like Hood Canal, Silver City, Snoqualmie etc. which is always a good thing. The big plus is the service - Al who runs the beer department is easy going, well informed and always willing to help. Considering all the questions I have and the number of times I call to find out what's in stock the response is always great. Their willingness to let me buy the beer over the phone and hold on to it until my friends show up is greatly appreciated and definitely bumps my rating up.

Well run and recommended.

this store is the stuff dreams are made of. literally. not only is it the best grocery store ever, along with ferry rides and craft beer it is one of the top things i look forward to on a visit back home. i've been to the aurora avenue location, but this review is for the number 1 store in poulsbo.

the sights and smells of the produce section practically floor me. even if you've never been to japan, you really have to appreciate the vast selection, the freshness, everything about this HUGE section. if you don't know what a typical japanese produce section looks like, think one kind of apple, one peach, etc... it sucks here. but, back to the wonderful fresh memory of my favorite store's beer section.

this is where it gets interesting. because, i think the beer selection is very good, but i was impressed by almost every grocery store's beer selection on my trip. things have changed in the past few years. stores that used to have bmc and a good selection of nw micros, now they have stone, rogue, a few germans. i'm pretty sure they didn't have them a few years ago. central market, however, my god. look at other reviews for some of the beers available. i'll add celebrator to that list, love that dopplebock.

like knuckles' experience, i was all alone in the beer section. even though i spent a good chunk of time looking around, nobody ever asked if they could help me find something. that's ok though, i didn't need help. but if i did, i would've been a little turned off by poor service. but everybody here is nice. i know a guy that works here, and everybody loves this store. i love this store. amen.

Oddly enough, beer is one of Central Market's most reasonably priced commodities. Don't get me wrong, I freaking love this store. Great organic produce, great regular produce, American lamb, lots of locally produced goods, huge organic/natural foods section, and the selection is unparalleled. This extends to the beer selection as well. The two local breweries that actually bottle have their stuff on the shelves here (Silver City and Hood Canal), and almost all the other Puget Sound breweries that bottle are well-represented as well. The lone exception to that rule seems to be Maritime-Pacific, but from speaking with the people at Maritime, I know that to be a distributor issue, and not a supplier/retailer issue.

Quality: This is a supermarket, mind you, but a supermarket with a dedication to NW craft beers. Figure the beer aisle is one of those open air cold boxes like you see in every grocery store. This beer cooler is broken up, basically, into fourths: one fourth is actually for cold beverages like water, pop, etc. One fourth is for BMC stuff. The remaining half is split unevenly between North American craft beer (the larger selection), and some really remarkable imports. This is the place I bought my first bottle of Traquair House Ale (sigh).

Service: I generally love the service at Central Market, but I have never once been asked by anyone in the beer section if I needed any help. Nor have I ever seen anyone that purportedly had anything to do with the section stocking or anything else related to the section. However, since the service at Central Market in all other areas is so good, I'm going to assume that this is some sort of weekend anomaly for me and still give them a 3.5.

Selection: As mentioned before, at least half or so of this 75 foot long (or more) beer cooler is given over to craft and import beers. The West Coast has the strongest representation, and then a fair selection of the other craft breweries throughout the country that actually distribute into Washington.

If you're ever in Poulsbo, and want to see what a grocery store should be, visit Central Market. And you know, if you need beer, this is the best place to go in Kitsap County. For now...

I must say I was surprised at the selection they offer. I figured they'd have a few micros, and most of those american. But when I went beer shopping there last week I was overwhelmed at the choices in front of me. In fact I just picked up a box of Session tonight for band practice. They have a few from Stone (including Ruination, which I've yet to try but It's one of my Brothers faves), Chimay, Rogue, Pranqster, Celebrator, Hoegaarden, La Fin Du Monde, and Arrogant Bastard I've purchased from them just in the past couple weeks, and there's tons more dying to get to. I haven't seen a selection like this anywhere on the peninsula, and am happy to have found Central Market's Beer Oasis.
